On Thanksgiving morning, my brother and I were heading to see Glass Onion at Century 20 Daly City and needed a quick bite before enjoying a big bucket of popcorn. We had planned to stop at Taco Bell, but it was closed. Luckily, we found a Carl's Jr. that was open. I hadn’t been there since college and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was clean, and the staff at the counter greeted me warmly. After ordering and paying, I went to wash my hands but noticed the soap dispenser was empty. I informed the staff, who promptly refilled it and let me know before I ate. The food was delicious and hit the spot. I only go to this Carl's Jr. when I have a coupon or there’s a special deal. The manager at this location seems to ignore the company’s promotions and does their own thing. For example, a sign advertised buy one burger or breakfast sandwich, get the second for $2, but when I ordered, they said it was only valid for breakfast items. When I asked why, they just said that’s how it is. The staff are young and unfriendly, and it feels like they don’t want to be there. It’s best to just pick up your food and leave quickly.
Good, hearty hamburgers and Mexican dishes. It’s usually not very crowded, so you can unwind and enjoy your meal. Updated 09/24/2022 The place seemed like it was about to close. I ordered two 1/3 lb burgers, but as you can see from the picture, the patties were definitely smaller than 1/3 lb. In my bag, there were only two napkins. I asked for ketchup and was given four packets stuck together. When I opened them, my hands became sticky, so I had to wash them. Overall, a disappointing experience!
Carl's is famous for their charbroiled burgers, but the patty I received tasted like it had been cooked on a frying pan hours earlier and then kept warm in a drawer. I’m not sure if this is a problem specific to this location or if it extends to all Carl's restaurants. If you're looking for a fresh charbroiled flavor, I recommend giving Habit Burger a try instead.
