I’m sorry to say that my recent visit to this restaurant was quite disappointing compared to my previous experiences. The soup was overly oily and reminded me of store-bought tomato sauce rather than a homemade dish. The summer salad, which featured walnuts and apples, was lacking; it had no chicken or dressing and was mostly just a pile of lettuce. The salmon toast was exactly as described—just salmon on toast. The golden monkey tea was probably the only thing I mildly enjoyed, if you can even call it that. I came across an advertisement for the Chado Tea Room and thought it would make for a delightful holiday outing with my daughter and a few friends. However, I was disappointed to find that they were out of most menu items—no bread, no chicken. The scones and cake we ordered were clearly store-bought and stale; when we tried to reheat them, they became tough and inedible. Additionally, there was no one available to explain the teas to us. While our server was nice, the overall experience was quite underwhelming, to say the least.
After frequently visiting the Chado on W. 3rd Street, we were looking forward to enjoying a leisurely afternoon there. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment. There were only two other customers, and while the service was polite, it was quite slow. The tables were not properly set, the sandwich bread was slightly stale, and the scones were smaller than we expected. The atmosphere was not as charming as we had hoped. Regrettably, we cannot recommend Chado Downtown.
the food was good, but the service was bad. only two ppl work and when it began to rain, I asked myself to sit inside, and they told me no, but then accommodated three other tables that asked to move inside. when I disturbed her, she rolled her eyes and said I'm sorry! I'm not sorry.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the tea room. The entire experience was delightful, and the variety of teas was impressive. We highly recommend it for anyone seeking a similar outing.
I’ve been to this one and the one in Pasadena. Both times service has been weird. Just make sure you have extra time in your day for a very leisurely tea.
Lovely quiet high tea midweek for my coworkers and me. Tea selection is impressive. I almost wish they offered a way to order flights to sample!
The staff is very friendly, and the treats are delicious. There's a great selection of teas available.
