Quite an unlikely looking chippy in an odd location, but definitely worthy of the 5* reviews. Fish and chips for two, to take away, served by father son who've been in the chippy business for decades. Delicious, crisply battered fresh fish and perfectly cooked chips, with directions to Malpas, where we sat looking out over the Truro River. Great food, fab service and very reasonably priced a shame it's not our local!
This is a fantastic spot for fish and chips! The fries are always fresh, and the fish has a wonderfully crispy batter that isn’t greasy or soggy at all. The service is consistently friendly, and with so many staff members on hand, you get your food quickly. There’s really no reason to hesitate when you can enjoy such a great experience!
This is the best fish and chips I've had in the city! Everything is freshly cooked, and the staff are friendly and helpful. You can also place your order by phone and pick it up later. The shop is very clean, too!

I'm pretty fussy about fish and chips and Charlie's makes the cut. I wouldn't go anywhere else in Truro. Always friendly service from Charlie and his dad too.

"The £23 BBQ experience was disappointing as many items were missing, including the advertised seafood. I ended up settling for rice and noodles instead. When I requested a discount on the bill for the missing items, it was refused. Overall, it was not worth the price."

"We went to Penrose Kitchen on the last night of my cousin's visit to Cornwall from Australia. Can't praise Sam, Ben and the staff highly enough! Relaxed atmosphere, fabulous food and great service. We'll definitely be back looking forward to next time!!"
