In my days as Australia 's most uncompromising professional restaurant critic, I would have failed Chez Cocoche.Comprehensively. Apart from a pleasant ambience, it has nothing that I can recommend. The service was contemptuous and slow. Dishes were long in coming and my steak tartare, the easiest...of our mains to prepare, failed to arrive at all until I reminded the waitress tdhat I had also ordered a main course. She had forgotten mine, she said, which had the trappings of a lie. This mainstay restaurant at Ave de la Gaulle is situated in the middle and has terraces in front and the side. We were welcomed by a smiling and friendly hostess at around 930pm. Quite late usually to find a table... but we seated promptly. Our...waiter, Lambert (a younger version of Lambert Wilson, a French actor) handed out the menu within 5 min of being seated. The dish I ordered was Cod filet with coconut and ginger sauce, with a purée of « courbes ». See picture below. It was scrumptious together with the crispy cut fries which we ordered as a side dish and shared with 3 out of our 6 member party. No reservation but we got seated right away on a week day. We ordered a menu main dish and dessert. The waiter was efficient and in a good mood. Also we ordered 50cl rosé which arrived in a carafe. My fish dish was tasty,...and arrived on a pre heated plate. Dessert was an extra 2.80. Am not a fan of extra charges when ordening a menu, but alas so be iT this time. No complaints all was in order. Even paying at the bar (also not my thing but many restaurants require so).

we came without reservation in this busy restaurant.< we ordered only a 50cl rosé and a Ceasar salad and a fishceviche; both were delicious! the waiting staff (this time jacques) is always friendly and helpful. bill came to almost 51 euro Reserva una mesa ahora

we stumbled over this restaurant at our first night in la baule. what a great sound! great service. beautiful atmosphere. all in all a beautiful dinner at an affordable price. well made for the whole team.

wow! this place is great! the offer of food is excellent, from burgers (the best ever) to steak tartar, pizzas, moules etc. only fabulous! a good time here every time we go.

Went twice! Lovely food. Reasonably priced on the main road too. Can park after 7 for free! Would go again!
