) I had a wonderful culinary experience with my oldest brother, that's his favorite 'go to' restaurant. This hidden gem in the Kempsville region is local family owned. It has a friendly, non-pretentious atmosphere. We went there for Tuesday night 'Shrimp Special'. It was great. The shrimps were plentiful, large, tasty and perfectly cooked. It comes with melted butter to dip cocktail sauce. The lush puppies Cole Slav were also excellent. Our waitress, Stefanie, was everything I want in a waitress. She was really friendly with a warm smile, she was articulated / well spoken, helpful, and came at the right times, not too much too little. The prices were extremely reasonable. Whenever I visit my family in Virginia Beach, we eat there at least once a visit.

It was Philly beef steak, grilled O's, Mozzarella, Marinara Pfefferoni on a garlic roasted role. It was so good, we loved her! Just the right amount of everything! I have mine without the onions. (We would have loved more butter garlic on the inside of bread, but this is a personal preference) Hubby's Tatar Tots were perfectly cooked. His chili mac n cheese was good. Regular Mac n cheese was a bit dry. Once I added milk, extra cheese pepper was good to go. Would definitely order the sub again!

Such an amazing place! I've been here a few only a times. Service has always been wonderful. I popped in to see my friend and grab a bite. The owner took the time to come over and introduce herself to my son and I. She sat with us for a good 15 minutes talking with my son and gave him some encouraging words. (those words made a world of difference that day) She definitely made us feel welcome! We will be returning more often.

Sleeping suit. The cook, Terrance, who works essentially every day, is a master in his craft. It's not your usual diver. Whatever on their special menu is highly recommended.

The food at the Coastal is one of the best food in Hampton Streets. Perhaps even the state. The always changing special is where it is. Unique flavors keep you back.
