Sadly the sales rep working the store front picks and chooses who she wants to acknowledge and help. I looked around the entire store and took my time to see what I wanted. I was the only person in there. She even made nice with people passing by who was not in the store. Because I was ignored, I decided I will not spend my money at a place who can 't even say hello. The cherry on top, as I was leaving, a white male walked in and she greeted him with the most helpful Hello! .... I liked it better when the cellar was downstairs in the lounge. The service was better.
I absolutely love how elegantly they’ve transformed this basement space—it’s such a wonderful retreat from the outside world. The beer selection is fantastic, and their tasting flights are definitely worth trying. Plus, the popcorn is always delicious! The highlight for me was the sous vide cheesecake, made with goat cheese, graham cracker crumbs, and Irish whiskey dulce de leche. It was incredibly tasty! However, I was a bit disappointed to see it served in a jar rather than as a slice. I probably should have anticipated that given it was sous vide, right?
We usually only come here for special events where they do a set menu and wine pairing. Last one we went to was Hawaiian themed with a live band playing Xmas music island style. We always have a good time. It's usually fairly intimate and each dinner has about 20-25 guests. Just follow Castro Valley Marketplace on social media to get notified about these events.
A hidden gem in the basement, this is a favorite wine bar. Creative wine flights are a strong draw. Staff are knowledgeable, there is a limited selection of bar food.

The ambiance was fantastic, complemented by a wonderful live band. There was a great selection of tasty wines, and the small bites were absolutely delicious.
The menu offers some intriguing options. I also noticed they have alcoholic ice cream, which had a strong boozy flavor. Definitely worth trying!
