My husband and I booked this break with a voucher we received at Christmas and it was a belated anniversary celebration due toLockdown rules and restrictions.I emailed the hotel in advance and asked if we could possibly have a nice top floor room and this was exactly what we got. All the accommodation is behind the hotel in a separate building and we liked this because you could come and go as you pleased without having to go through the hotel. My friend and I stayed at the restaurant on Thursday night and we were very disappointed with our experience. While the furnishings were nice and the room was spacious and well organized, there were several shortcomings. When we arrived at 2:00pm, we were disappointed to find that they did not have any draft real ale, plain crisps, or nuts available. Additionally, when we returned from a meeting at 9:45pm, the bar was still open but they had already stopped serving. Throughout our stay, it was challenging to find anyone available to provide assistance. The next morning, we went to the main hotel for breakfast at 8:30am only to find it completely locked up and no sign of breakfast being serve...
Very helpful and friendly staff who were clearly coronavirus aware and keeping everything bacterially safe. There is a fairly extensive menu in the bistro. Some items are marked at half price at certain times. This included the fish pie excellent quality and value. We also ordered fish and chips which came with really good chunky chips. However, I must give a mention to the mushy peas. These tasted like the real item as if they had been steeped and then simmered. It is SOO unusual to be treated to these nowadays and what's more they were not served in a tiny white bowl on the side. Somebody in the kitchen is doing things right here!
For starters, we had two prawn cocktails and a camembert for two. The prawns were small and poor value, served with just lettuce and prawns. The camembert lacked flavor and could have benefited from chutney or sauce. For mains, the Chicken Kiev was strangely cut in half and butterflyed on the plate, which was odd. The fish was adequate but a little soggy, and the vegetarian curry was reportedly nice.
Overall, our experience was average and we would not choose to return as there are better dining options available.

We decided to stop by this restaurant on a whim after missing our bus and having an hour to spare. It had been about 10 years since our last visit, but we were pleasantly surprised this time. It was quiet, with us being the only customers, so there wasn't much of an atmosphere. However, we were just looking for a drink, and we were happy with what we got. The staff were friendly and cheerful, and they had Covid measures in place. It exceeded our expectations, so we would definitely come back again.
We had to spend an hour in town before the Railway Heritage centre opened, and this was one of the places open where you can sit down in warm. I think that's the last good thing we can say about this place. The service was slow, and the English Breakfast we ordered take long time to get and was rather cold and not really fresh. They charged £1,50 for a babychino which was not even a babychino just a little warm milk and £1,95 for two additional toasts to the breakfast. Avoid them for ever.
Called here for lunch after usual haunt disappointed us with unacceptable wait for food. Absolutely everything was 5* beyond. Our food was excellent, my fish chips was truly the best I’ve ever had. Coffees were the best so was the service. Travelled over 50 miles.... we’ll be back many thanks!
We popped in by chance on a Saturday evening for dinner following a long day at Leighton Moss the staff were very accommodating and extremely welcoming. Food was great. Good range of drinks and a comprehensive menu. Good amount of parking out back which was great to park the campervan in!

Called for Sunday carvery, amazing quality meat and a great selection of veg as well as stunning Yorkshire Puddings! The setting and atmosphere is spot on and the staff are wonderful. A £9.95 carvery that we will be having again.
Stayed one night in the hotel ,the accommodation was acceptable for the price we did not stop for breakfast but walking through the dinning area to reception it certainly looked very good
