We finally decided to make it to davids as a family catch up. The fried calamari was great. I think the contemporary take on some dishes ruined the meal. The waitress kept encouraging the specials so we tried. Not sure how goji berries are to go with the cuisine or top of stir fried veggies. I felt they tried to hard to be contemporary. I was encouraged to get the chilli prawns by the waitress and she kept harping on about trying. I felt the prawns were great but it tasted smothered in sweet chilli sauce. Not at all what I would have expected and ended up being disappointed.Once we received our food we were completely forgotten about, we were left without water or any attention for the rest...

We went to the unlimited Yum Cha on Saturday, The food tasted good, but there wasn't enough of it. The trays would arrive empty to our table and then would take forever for them to refill (they had 2 rooms and all the food was coming into the other room first instead of having different waiters look after each room). It took about half an hour for us to get a decent bite to eat and when we left we weren't really full. We also arrived on time and had to wait 10 min outside in the freezing cold while they cleared tables. Compared to their other restaurant - Oriental tea house, we found there to be more variety at oriental, much bigger portions and tastier meals. Much better value too ($30 comp...
It has evolved ..... in a good way, no lazy Susan revolving anywhere. It has evolved since 1989, a few off shoots all over Melbourne; CBD, Chadstone and Chapel St.Renovated, good taste, classic post-modern Oriental, very cozy inside, casual, relax, none of that Chinese restaurant "rush" feeling.Food wise, we went for the Monday Pork Feast $62 x 2 for the 5 of us .... Shanghai Pork Belly was the highlight easily.Must commend on their presentation and fantastic service from this new generation Australian Chinese, albeit one, he probably wasn't having a good night.Great to see their new spin of Chinese food brand ... definitely got potential, don't look for that lazy Susan on any table.
Noisy, bustling, cheerful place with better than average Dim Sum. Peking Duck mini rolls especially favoured by some at the table. Don't go expecting a quiet or sedate experience, the place is small, mostly crowded; the food is good, plentiful and comes quickly. On the day I went they had an all you could eat for $38 a head. Family oriented place in the centre of the Prahran "grunge" strip. Parking opposite but watch out for the council's roving car parking inspectors. Reserva una mesa ahora
Amazing staff, amazing food, I eat here 3 times a week. I eat out nearly every meal at some of Melbourne's most exclusive restaurants but keep coming back to David's for fresh clean food and something different. Most negative comments are seriously warped, come and try for yourself and you will be hooked like me. Iron Buddha beef, shredded lamb and all dumplings..everything is great, thanks to Adam and the team!!
Touring the city with the kids, stopped in here with no booking amd they found is a table. The food came thick and fast, something for everyone, even the fussy eaters amongst us! Loved the dumplings and good seafood. All with a good glass of wine!Easy with children as there is so much choice. Enjoyed our lunch.
I eat Peking Duck everywhere but its always great at Davids, there's a new menu with more of a street hawker vibe, try the sticky pork its amazing.
I love the fit out at David'sIt's country style, lots of whites and timbers, really high loft style ceilings. Reserva una mesa ahora
We (family - 7 adults, 4 kids) came here for lunch for father's dayDefinetely a different take to yum cha.
Seemingly westernised take on Chinese food but in a nice, well-lit venue.
