Went here for a mid week meal. I got the cheeseburger quesadilla, my partner got the burger with mac and cheese on it.The quesadilla was something different and if I closed my eyes it was pretty spot on in taste to a cheeseburger. Honestly though it was a bit annoying to eat - one side kept falling off. This could be resolved by having cheese on both sides of the tortilla instead of just one so it oozes through and connect the sides together - delicious AND functional! My partners burger was interesting, he looked like he really enjoyed it. I had a taste but as I'm not a massive mac n cheese fan I didn't really rate it.It was pretty good but I'm not keen on spending $40 for two drinks and bu...

Back in my day, The Erko did not have a very good reputation. It is definitely the opposite now.A very cozy place on a wet evening, that is for sure. Dim lighting, old-world charm, dare I say very English. But, saying that, the staff were friendly, the clientele very mixed and the menu looked great.I only had a cider and a mixed chicken wing plate... the hot is hot... I couldn't feel my lips, well, that was after they incinerated. I can usually stand a bit of heat, but man, those wings had fire. Great work, chef!Unfortunately, I didn't try any of the other menu items, but, I would love to go back and do so. The menu is very 'smoked', and I love it.There were singles, couples, families (actual...
The focus at the 'Erko', as this pub is popularly known, is very much on meat, especially meat that has been smoked or barbecued. I understand the place even boasts its own smokehouse. There are a couple of menu options for vegetarians, but not many. When we dined here the star of the table was the 'smoked meats board', costing $40 and to be shared between two (or more). The presentation was great and our friends who ordered it more than satisfied with what they got: half a chicken (smoked), plus a bowl of pulled beef and various accompaniments like bread, pickles, sauces etc. The Jamaican-inspired jerk chicken was also well received. The Erko also has a good, well-priced wine list, friendly...
Firstly, this guy behind the bar, who looks like some random punter off the street, makes an amazing **** mary. Have had many, all over Sydney, throughout asia, the US and london..and this one was awesome. Nice work pal. (I actually ended up having 3) The atmosphere is always lively, with all sorts rocking through the door. Worst thing about this place = the food. Terrible. Snitzel near on burnt, terrible chips, probably cooked in month old fat. And the deep fried chicken was appalling. Great location but no parking, and a hop skip to many other Newtown and Enmore venues. Was also good to see Dr Pilkingtons Cider available. One of the best on the market. Reserva una mesa ahora
As locals, we were a big fan of The Erko. However, in the last couple of months we have been extremely disappointed by both the food and the service to the point that we have decided to never set foot in there again. The menu has changed and quality of ingredients has gone down. Smoked meats are dry, schnitzels over cooked (aka almost black and super dry), chili con carne tasting like beef fat and no other flavours (haven't they heard of spices??).The ambiance is pretty good but that is about it, so go for drinks but not for a feed.
I took my partner here for dinner on Tuesday evening.I ordered the rump steak with pepper sauce, chips and salad - my partner had the cheeseburger. The pub was very busy with lots of people enjoying a drink and some food - even so, the meals didn't take long to arrive. Both meals were lovely, my steak was nicely cooked and great with the pepper sauce. The cheeseburger was a nice lite option and was really nice.Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Will come back when in the area again - we had a lovely dinner.
Don't try the smoked meats unless you want to be disappointed. They are particularly unskilled in smoking meats. The staff didn't know how to make basic cocktails, they were very slow, rude and a little snotty. The manager places a large party in a hall way and then complained when we were in the way.
Excellent spot to have that cold beverage after a long hot day on the job. Off street car parking means you can pull up at the door - of course don't have more than 2 drinks before you drive home! Reserva una mesa ahora
We visited the Erko in a large group and found it friendly and accommodating. despite our ordering a great number of meals, the service was speedy. I had nachos, which was fresh and tasty.
Love coming to this pub once footy season starts to watch the Rabbitohs games. Great selection of beers on tap, plenty of TV screens and a bistro as well.
