In the northern suburbs, it can be more of a challenge to find worthy restaurant destinations.  Ferrovia has been around this Thornhill area for 15 years or more.  Having been there a few times, what strikes me are the following:  The basic menu has not changed at all.  Of course you will have daily specials and seasonal ones.  Also, the personnel is loyal and I recognized most of them.  That is a good sign in this business.At our table, we mainly went for the reliable staples.  The carpaccio was as fresh as ever.  I always enjoy the grilled calamari prepared to the non-chewy perfection.  The appetizer portion was substantial compared to other places serving a similar dish.  You also have a...

Nelson Richmond Hill: This Italian restaurant is hidden in a supermarket strip mall which is too bad because it's pretty good. I had the prix-Fixe menu $23.95) which started withe the Ferrovia Caesar, romaine hearts, crispy pancetta, Parmigiano herb croutons and a grainy mustard and roast garlic dressing. The cheese was really salty, but I appreciated the conservative amount of dressing used as a Caesar salad drowning in dressing is a big pet peeve of mine. The food was delicious, we got lamb shank and rack of lamb. People were very nice, nice area in Thornhill, atmosphere was beautiful and small however it is mostly an older crowd that go there.
