The French restaurant custom of not opening for dinner before 7 or 8 was driving us to distraction. Virtually every night we'd check TripAdvisor for places we'd like to try only to find them closed at 5:30-6 when we were ready to have our evening meal. We were actually going to go to the grocery and pick up salad fixings when we stumbled across Françoise. It has a café vibe to it - which makes perfect sense because it's across from the local dance, theatre & music conservatory. It was quite busy, but the proprietess (Françoise herself, I'd guess) got us situated right away. My wife and I each had an order of quiche with salad. Hers was a Lardon (bacon), potato and green pepper. Mine was Lard...

We must have eaten at Françoise's a few hundred times. It's a self service of the very highest ethical and taste standards. You can eat there, or take away. The products are fresh and organic, the plates are biodegradable, the card is fairly simple but delicious, there are two menus per day, with some variations, and about 30 different highly creative sandwich formulas and about 20 different salads. Don't forget the deserts that are exceptional although not entirely without calories. How does she do it? That refers to the prices. They are really incredibly advantageous, in general and especially regarding the quality of every ingredient and the creativity of assembly and the freshness of ever...

We were in Avignon during the beginning of the crazy busy theatre festival and found this slice of local heaven on a side street. It is a restaurant-tea room. My son (10) and husband and I loved the people who own it. He is a former exec who was travelling too much and his wife is a musician and they decided to change their lives to be together and do what they love...and voila a friendly place with yummy baked goods, soups, etc. served cafeteria style where you take your tray to an indoor or outdoor table. They have a lot of locally sourced stuff (always a good sign). We had a great time there and would return.

Our family comes to the Avignon Theatre Festival every summer, and I bet we eat at least a third of our lunches here, because the food is just so good. Walk up to the counter, order a portion of one of the homemade quiches of the day, or choose the hot meal of the day, or perhaps opt for a freshly-made sandwich from the refrigerator. Add a side salad, a beverage, a coffee, and you have an absolutely delicious lunch. The inside is air conditioned and the tables on the sidewalk are misted with cool water. There is also free wifi. You cannot go wrong. Reserva una mesa ahora

We had read about this place on TripAdviser before our visit and sought it out for breakfast one morning. As we were standing looking over the menu on the door, the owner came over and asked if he could help. He led us to the counter and asked if we'd like him to make us an American breakfast. Boy did we! After so many croissants it was heaven to get some toast with their homemade jam and a delicious omelette with exactly what we asked for inside. Excellent coffee drinks too. All in all, a truly lovely experience.

A good self-service restaurant, with tasty homemade sandwiches and quiches. Well-chosen ingredients (whole grain breads, pear-banana crumble with a pinch of ginger, blueberry-flavored "limonade artisanale" or organic wine by the glass), and reasonable prices.(One complaint: the disposable wooden cutlery, though esthetic, is not that agreeable to eat with.)

We stopped here during our city visit, we've found excellent food and really nice service. It's not a restaurant, you pick the dishes at the counter and take your place; everything seems to be homemade, and probably is.Good ingredients, a reasonable choice and variations, that's all you need for a quick lunch or breakfast.A lovely place.

During a recent stay in Avignon, my husband and I visited Francoise two times, once for breakfast, once for lunch. We found this charming cafeteria style restaurant to be a great food bargain near Place Pie. Service with a smile, delicious salads, quiches and sandwiches, and low prices abound here. Simple good food. The proprietors will do what ever you wish with the dish. Out door seating is on a pedestrian street so it is quiet. It is just off the square of Les Halles. GO there.
