I have just returned from having afternoon tea, and was really looking forward to it. Sadly it was extremely disappointing. arrived at the restaurant, the staff were at the rear of the restaurant, and clearly saw us, but chose to ignore us, leaving us...standing for minutes, a simple recognition and I’ll be with you in a moment is just basic customer service. It all went downhill from there! We were early and asked to be seated, they couldn’t accommodate us in the restaurant, but could in the bar area, this wasn’t an issue, or so we thought! It then took a further minutes for anyone to give us a menu. We asked for tea, after minutes the tea arrived, we poured it and the milk was off, told th...
Went for a family Sunday lunch with in our party booking through a travelzoo deal. Menu a little limited with or options per course, but we started off relatively well on the first course but a minute wait after...finishing we still hadn't being approached with our mains after pointing this out we were told it would be another minutes on arrival most of the meals were lukewarm at best so after some discussion with the staff we we offered to have the mains cooked again minutes prep time.... these weren't complex dishes, chicken breast, braised steak etc... after a further wait time with no apology and conscious that we were getting nowhere with maitre de my wife complained to the hotel manage...
We visited for dinner after eating here several times over the years and boy it has now reached rock bottom it was total Kaos and it wasn’t even busy. Young staff couldn’t be bothered,dirty tables, staff looked scruffy with no manners. It was very hard...to believe that a star hotel has such a bad restaurant they even got the order wrong even the young girl that was restaurant manager or supervisor was out of her depth no control. So if you are staying here do yourself a favour eat somewhere else till the management of this hotel get the restaurant sorted.
the website allowed me to book lunch for us at covid, but when we arrived, the restaurant was closed, but the manager and the staff were absolutely brilliant to welcome us. they brought us into the gin bar, which is not on open...to hours later, served us drinks and the cook put together large plates of canapés, hearty and sweet for us to crumb. I can honestly say that our social distancing together was made so special that all involved in the hotel. a huge thank you to all employees of the layer yesterday by sharon, linzi linda x

I really can't understand the couple of poor reviews I've seen for the sunday lunch!?? I've visited twice now and the food was beautiful. Nice selection of starters, mains and desserts all cooked/prepared to a high standard. I found the service absolutely fine. Friendly informal...and not as stuffy as some places I used to visit like Marco Pierre White. Theres also a nice warm atmosphere in the restaurant too. Well worth a visit I'd say!! I look forward to my next visit!!
Tonight, we were absolutely impressed by our dinner at this restaurant! After experiencing some issues during our first visit earlier this year, we decided to give it another chance and we are so happy we did! There have been significant improvements made since then. The service was exceptional (thank you so much Sara, you are fantastic at what you do!!!) and we thoroughly enjoyed the food! We will definitely be returning in the near future.
we had a afternoon on the crowne plaza today and it was one of the best afternoon tea I was too! the variety was amazing and the staff was the most friendly staff I've ever met, especially mellows that was so care and...amazing! the image does not make fairness, as it is a screenshot from a video that I had recorded.
Although we were not staying at this hotel, we decided to have dinner here and were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and the friendly service from the waitress and waiter. The fish was wonderful and the potatoes were very good! The kids loved their burgers as well. This restaurant comes highly recommended!

booked a special offer Sunday dinner that could appreciate the restaurant. was supervised by george on the booking page and alex our waitress. the venue, eating and service were great and made the family celebration especially.
