I'Escalinada - Reservar una mesa

Emphasizing traditional cuisine and homemade dishes, this restaurant was a mixed bag. The fish soup in a pastry cover was judged to be quite good but the faux fillet steak (translated on the menu as 'rib eye') was the worst steak I have eaten in a long while. Add a very expensive wine list, a chickpea salad starter that was extremely poor and a waiter in 'selling' mode and this reduced the rating to 2* and a strong recommendation to avoid.

Everything about l'Escalinada was middle of the road. The food? Not bad. The service? Sufficiently friendly and timely. The price? Could've been cheaper, but to be expected in this part of town. Nonetheless, the location was good, and its always enjoyable sitting outside and regarde passer la vie.

This is a pleasant and bustling restaurant that serves a few Nicoise deicacies. It's a bit of a tourist trap, but the prices are OK and the food is decent. Most of the staff speak very good English.The vegetable fritters were good and I enjoyed the tripe.

Average food, okay service and over-priced. The place looked a lot more inviting. Shame as it is in a great spot and they could do so much better. Perhaps they rely on passing trade and do not need to care too much?

Open at 7p for dinner. Great service with friendly staff. Most speak very good English. We got a free apéritif that was quite good. The Rabbit with Pesto pasta was very good. Highly recommend!
