I finally made it to India Mix restaurant tonight. I ordered the Thali plate and had butter chicken, chana masala and curry chicken. I chose to order everything exactly as they prepare it. The butter chicken was rich and flavourful. It could have been warmer, although I do understand the problem of holding the food at a hotter temperature. My only suggestion would be to portion it as the rest of the meal is being put together and perhaps putting it under the salamander to warm a bit. Chicken curry was very tasty, great gravy. I'm not big on spicy food but love trying new dishes so along with my two sons Tyler and Izaak, we tried this relatively new authentic India Food joint today. First off - the digital full color display menu on a big monitor is such a novel way to show your meal choices I'm surprised more restaurants don't have them. Prices were extremely reasonable at lunch specials that included standard 3 items (including rice) along with 3 options for just $9.99. My favorite without doubt was the buttered chicken. Best I ever had- not spicy at all and great mixed into the rice. The other dishes were a little more spicy and my sons wolfed those down ... while I sweated a little thru them but did ok, and so...
I hate to say it but the food here was a big let down if you are looking for true Indian food although the guys who run this place are super friendly and take pride in what they do. Unfortunately it doesn't translate to taste.First off it is nice that they let you try things before you order. Most of the food is from a hot table and not made to order.The butter chicken is not traditional with a rich and spicy flavour. It's more of a Thai dish with coconut milk base. First time trying this restaurant. Had the Butter Chicken which was just amazing. It came with Rice, Raita, Naan Bread and a Dessert. My choices of sides were the Palak Paneer and Mixed Vegetables. All delicious and authentic, fresh and tasty. I wasn't keen on the dessert which was a round, pastry-like sweet. My daughter had the same, except she had the Chana Masala instead of the Mixed Veg. She loved her meal. Each meal for only $9.99. Great value for great food. I would definitely recommend if you like Indian food. **** Four Star Rating ****
Came in hoping for some good indian food and was quite disappointed. Samosas were soggy and microwaved. Paneer had no actual cheese in it. Naan was flat and doughy. Butter chicken was more like a coconut milk and not the classic rich buttery taste. Veg was minced up and mostly onions. Portions were small and stainless steel trays were watermarked and well used. Sorry - Won't be back.
Decided to be adventurous one evening . We were not disappointed . We enjoyed the combos . We were not familiar with Indian food . The lovely couple took the time to explain the dishes to us and the contents . The food was prepared as we waited . It was hot and fresh . We will be back .
