La Baracca - Reservar una mesa

We went with friends who go regularly & know Max and his wife, it is probably not a place you want to study in daylight but for a fun night out it is first class. A workmens hut that was brought down the mountain (I think), it is basic and contains rows of tables that are very close together but somehow it has that magic ambience that makes a place fun. I have no idea how much was on the menu as our friends knew exactly what to have which was a large shared bowl of salad followed by very thinly cut hot beef served with the best mashed potatoes with lashings of pesto. The red wine was also excellent. The music gets louder (no dj or band the night we were there) & people dance - on the benches or tables if necessary as there is very little free floor space on a busy night. We met Swiss, Argentians, Lebanese, Americans all of whom where having a ball. I would highly recommend a night here, especially if you are in a group. A quiet couple might find it intimidating. Remember cash only.

This place was highly recommended, but we were a bit uncertain when we arrived, a shed at the end of the carpark for the gondola, little lighting and uneven steps. We arrived with a booking, but the restaurant was already full and very noisy with people waiting. The owner kept us assured that everything would be OK; and it was.When we eventually sat down, things livened up, the food, the music (a 3 piece from Seattle were great), and the owner then became the DJ, dancing and signing continued until very late (including "Men at Work").Don't miss this for something different in St Moritz.

When chaos is fun, it is la baracca. Communal tables, benches, menu written with chalk on the walls, excellent comfort food.You will make friends with your neighbors , come with your own friends. The later, the better. The music gets louder and louder. We were skeptical when we entered this hut/trailer, the ambience got us. This is different from anything else in St Moritz, this now cult-like place is addictive (bring cash), leave all sense of propriety at home. It was FUN!!!

What a great find La Baracca is! We had a fairly large group of 12 and were amazed how the food was so well prepared and served hot. The band playing was top-tier also and made the warm inviting atmosphere even better.

This place is always fun, great atmosphere, great food, very nice staff, if you are in the mood for a party this is the place to go!
