La Cocina - Reserva de mesa

This is our favorite restaurant in New Jersey since we moved here three years ago. The food is incredibly delicious—especially the bark stew with rice and plantains—which perfectly reminds us of the amazing meals we enjoyed while living in South America. We particularly love dining on the patio when the weather is nice. The service is great, and the staff always makes us feel at home. We bring all our friends here when they visit, and we've even had friends come specifically for a week just to enjoy La Cocina again. We absolutely love this place!

The food is plentiful so you won 't leave hungry. I had pulled pork with rice and black beans and sweet plantains. Everything was very tasty. I usually prefer the pulled pork to be a bit more smoky and a little dry while this was more wet . It was still very good. At another time I mixed pulled pork with pulled chicken and I think I like chicken better. Atmosphere is not all that great, a bit ran down but food makes up for it. Good place to grab lunch at, around downtown Newark.

I drive quite a bit to come here, honestly—I visit every two weeks. The food is consistently good. I will say that the staff could be more attentive, but the line moves quickly, and even if you have to wait, it’s always worth it. Whenever I'm at Manny's, I feel like I've hit the jackpot! I often get so caught up in my meal that I forget to take photos, so I need to upload more as time goes on, but for now, enjoy what I've got!

Disappointing recent order. Half filled empanadas and missing sauces. If you are reading this please use the old recipes that you used until three weeks ago. The new one is not up to the mark. Also the filling in the chicken empanada is not as flavorful as it used to be. The Cuban shell used to be so much better. Used to be a go to place and loved it. The portions are generous, and the staff is friendly. It's an ideal spot for a Latin American lunch. We frequently go there with colleagues. The only thing I wish they had a bit more of is a greater variety of vegetables or salads. But perhaps that’s not what customers are looking for...?

I had a wonderful time with my mom at this restaurant. I loved everything about it! The place was clean, the food was delicious, and the desserts were fantastic. The atmosphere was beautiful, and we especially appreciated the service provided by Joselito. Thank you, La Cocina!

I ordered a chicken empanada and received a beef one instead. The steak and rice is pretty good but I wish it was a little more flavorful. Overall I rate it a 6/10.
