We had been visiting the La Goule after a hiking trip near Le Noirmont. The place looks simple, but don't get fooled by that. It has a lovely terrace which is overlooking the river Doubs. A really nice and peaceful place. The restaurants offers a...variety of local dishes and desserts. We went for a saladier a delicious mixed salad which was served in a wooden bowl. Awesome! The mains were the Filet de Truites du bief d'Etoz. Yummy!! And I had as a dessert a Crème Brûlée with Absinthe. The service was attentive and kind. We have enjoyed the time at the La Goule very much and are looking forward to coming back.
It takes a while to drive to La Goule which is lost deep in the beautiful Doubs valley, but it is worth the detour. The food is very good. The trout capriccio is to die for, the mushroom dish tastes fantastic and the fried trouts are excellent, as are the sauces. Also the desserts are very good. It seems that it takes the staff a couple of minutes to break the (their) ice when you come in, which is a bit irritating, but once you have exchanged a few words (or hand gestures if you don't speak French) they are friendly and helpful.
Wir waren das erste mal in der romantischen Schlucht ,wollten etwas im Rest.Essen ,aber alles war dreckig ,die Thetasse schmudlig ! Der ganze Aussenbereich war schmutzig und unaufgeräumt ! Schade um dieses Restaurant ,das sonst gute Bewertungen hat !die Bedienung sah nicht anders aus !
Best food in Switzerland (2-week campervan tour, Easter 2019). Stunning location. Very friendly hosts: Marion Gilles (an excellent chef: delicate trout rare steak pavé to die for). Well worth the detour. And best to stay overnight if possible!!
