After having read good reviews about this restaurant, we decided to try it for dinner one evening despite the house full of tourists who obviously read the same reviews. Let's just say, it was not a good experience. It was probably my weakness in the french language, that made it difficult to have a conversation with the wait staff about things on the menu. We were gratefully given an english menu. Still,we could not ask questions regarding items on the menu, as the wait staff would just read back to us what the menu said. Once ordering what I thought would be a wonderful chicken dish marinated in artichokes, roasted red pepper etc... turned out to be a piece of chicken with green and red sp...
Arrived in Amboise in the rain and asked hotel for a casual eating recommendation, this was their second choice ... it should have been their very last. First choice was "ferme exceptionalment" and so La Scala being nearby became the default choice due to the heavy rain. Seemed like a decent plan at the time, having eaten French food for a week something Italian would be a change - actually a rest from food altogether would have been better.We should have left after looking at the place and reviewing the menu. It reminded me of a fast food pasta/pizza chain. After deciding I must be misreading the (French) menu I selected linguine that seemed to come with arabiatta, bolognaise and cream sauc...
This was the most disappointing meal we had in Amboise. The lasagna was so oddly bad, it did not even look like lasagna.When I let the waitress know that I did not like it, she brought me more bad sauce to put on top, LOL. I appreciate her trying but this was not eatable. She did not offer to bring me something else to eat as a replacement.They seemed happy with their offering however and encouraged me to review them here, they even gave me a pre-printed TripAdvisor card with the restaurant name on it…….
We (3) ate at La Scale & found the service, food & decor to be great. We all had pizzas & desserts along with a great Italian bottle of wine ( 2015 Maru NegroAmaro-highly recommend this wine!!). The place was full yet the pizzas arrived hot and the wait was not very long; Note it was the last weekend in June). All in all it is well worth the trip.

We got out of Chåteau de Chenonceau late tonight and we were starving! We made it to Amboise and found this lovely Italian restaurant and we ate delicious salads and had a fantastic pizza, some wine, and desserts!! Everyone was so sweet to us...especially to stay a little late to accomodate two starving Americans! HIghly recommend this restaurant!
Had arrived in Amboise by motorbike, and the weather was awful. Wanted somewhere to eat where the food was wholesome and filling. This place was excellent. Great service by the waiter, great food, and plenty of it. Just what we were after.
This restaurant is facing the main road through Amboise France. It is a 2 min walk from the chateau. The pizza that I had was very good, not too thick pastry and lots of cheesey topping. We had a pichet of local rosé which was also good.
We chose this restaurant on the advice of our guide book. It was a bit more "touristy" than I had hoped for. The food was fine but nothing exceptional. Prices were reasonable. It serves it's purpose but I wouldn't choose to go back.

Très bon accueil,service rapide,le menu très bien,juste une petite remarque mettre du porto dans un grand verre un peu ridicule cela aurait été mieux dans un petit verre,sinon a conseiller,
We were looking for something fast after visiting chateaux. The waitress spoke English and the menu is varied so everyone found something they liked. Pay at the front desk.
