While visiting the Kaysersberg Christmas market, we had lunch at this restaurant on the advice of a friend. After some initial disappointments, we left mostly satisfied. On the whole, I'd give the restaurant 7 out of 10. A few days before our visit, we looked at the menu (carte) on the hotel's website. It showed a lot of very tempting appetizers and main courses. To our dismay, however, that was NOT the menu that was provided when we arrived. Instead, a more limited Advent market menu was offered. Only one of the dishes that I has been interested in was still available. There was NOTHING on their website that indicated only a restricted menu would be in place. For example, you could not have...

This restaurant serves traditional Alsacien dishes. However, the chef's interpretation of this "cuisine de terroir" is very old fashioned. The "quiche lorraine" was OK but the portion was weigh too big. The side dish (salad) was ok with a good balance of acidity. The "quasi de veau" and the "poulet au Riesling" were nostalgic dishes of the 70'ies. A lot of cream and too long cooked spätzle. The veal was dry and not tender. We drunk the Riesling house wine which was too sweet. Why does Alsace keep this disgusting habit of "sweet"vinification. Because the majority of the clients want it that way? Don't do this. Profile yourself. We asked afterwards a Riesling of the good old Trimbach winery which...
We had dinner one night and it was delicious. The prix fix menu included a traditional Flammenkuche (thin tart with onions, cheese, bacon) and a choice of main dishes. We opted for the hunters Baeckeoffe with venison and wild boar meet. It was my first time eating game and I thought it was delicious. It was so filling we didn't need to eat until late in the day the next day so be warned. We also like the calm atmosphere compared to the neighboring restaurants. If we are ever in Kaysersberg again we will be back.
Very pleasant, well run hotel. Every is in the right place. Unusually nice artwork! The owner has some galleries, I understood. Location is perfect. We had a very nice view on the castle. Dinner.... good Foie grasse but very uninspired main dishes. Chicken in Riesling glue for my wife, who, wisely didn't eat it . I had a massive ,dry Gamestew that I shouldn't have eaten. It kept me awake most of the night. The poor deer, posthumously trying to escape from my digestive tract. Breakfast good. Service friendly. Reserva una mesa ahora
This is definitely a charming value for money hotel. A large standard room (€ 90,-), well equipped bathroom with shower in the bathtube. Only critism, the very small flat screen in the room. Good breakfast buffet (€ 10,-). Dinner was straitforward and good. Most dishes for € 18,-. Location of the hotel is quite nice at the beginning of the charming old town of Kaysersberg. Very friendly and helpful staff, family run hotel.
Huge and hearty is how I'd describe our baeckeoffe casserole at L'Arbre Vert. It's Alsace's answer to a Lancashire hotpot.I did, however, find it disconcerting spending the evening confronted by giant photos of fast food adorning the restaurant's walls. All in the name of art, apparently. But staring at a vast image of a greasy hot dog hardly added to our gastronomic enjoyment.
We ordered a "flambe" which is a pizza like dish. They delivered it having burnt the underside and when we asked for a replacement the waitress refused - she said "thats how them come". Our guests also ordered one that was not at all burned. We will not be back. Try paying with a card - your nightmare!!
Very modern hotel in a central location. The room was clean and open plan. We ate in the hotel 1 night and enjoyed ourselves. Would have had more but the choices of places to eat in Kayersberg were plentiful. Reserva una mesa ahora
We stayed at the hotel so it was convenient for a late night order. The pizza we ordered was fine but nothing special. They are one of the few restaurants that serve later in the evening.
German style restaurant with various game dishes in the menu. Prices are reasonable and the portions are huge. Quality is good.
