We also stumbled upon Le Bouchon during a post dinner walk. The building is very attractive and we saw that they sold wine by the glass so we decided to investigate and possibly see if it was worth visiting at a future date for a meal. The owner is especially welcoming and it doesn't take too long to work out that he's a massive rugby union fan! We asked for a glass each of Sauvignon blanc and the waitress turned up, poured two small glasses and left the bottle with us. Whilst we initially panicked thinking we were going to have to buy the entire bottle we soon realised that this was not the case as the couple sitting near us had five different bottles on their table! The same couple had ordered food and when the owner took it over to them he stopped at our table to show us the wonderful meals he was about to deliver, giving a full description. We thought this a little unusual but perhaps he was just doing some future advertising! The fish dish and the steak did look really good!Whilst we enjoyed our wine it wasn't cheap, we were quite surprised at the size of the bill for two very small wines. A nice enough place, pleasant staff but I doubt we'll be back.

We stubbled upon this authentic, old wine bar driving through Compiegne. My 21 year old daughter and I tried the local specialty of choucroute and sausage plate. The charming owner took our order and entertained us with his wine knowledge and cooking expertise. I hadn't been in southern France for 6 years and was craving a good cassoulet, the one I ordered met my highest expectations with duck meat that fell apart with a fork and white beans that were perfectly cooked, tender but still a little bit hard so they don't turn into mush. Mentioning that I had spent 2 years in Paris looking for my favorite Tarte au Citron, the owner produced an excellent, zesty lemon slice. My preference might have been for a bit creamier consistency but it was a perfect finish to a cassoulet ! We spent an extra hour than expected but enjoyed every moment of our lunch at Le Bouchon.

The selection from the menu was great. I would say they specialized in Sourthern French Cuisine. The food was hot, and delicious. The menu is in French, but if you go when the owner is there, he speaks very good English and is happy to help you when you order. When his younger son is there, he is not so happy with the American that doesn't speak French well and the hospitality level drops. But the owner is wonderful and friendly. We had reservations for a large group, I think there were 16 of us. They have a cellar that they open up for groups. We thought we would eat there, but instead, we were upstairs in the main dinning room with tables pushed together which was fine. The Creme Brulee was the best I have ever had.

I didn't. 6 years sat in southern France and had eaten a good cassoulet, which I ordered met my highest expectations with deenmine, which with a fork and white beans, which perfectly cooked, tender, but still a little hard, so that they did not turn into gay owners. my preference was perhaps for a little creamy consistency, but it was a perfect finish to a cassoulet! we spent an additional hour as expected, but enjoyed every moment of our lunch in le bouchon.
