Thanks to Tripadvisor I found this restaurant close to our departing airport Limoges. The lunch was excellent. We we so pleased that we were given a table even though the restaurant was fully booked. The restaurant is located in the middle of the main square close to the covered market. The food was excellent and great value (17 euros). We really enjoyed the king prawns and the roast lamb. The staff were very welcoming. I would really recommend this place. Please visit the ruins of Oradour sur Clan which has been preserved as it was following the terrible murder of its inhabitants during WW2.
Had a fantastic plat du jour today very tasty warming soup creamy butternut squash with cumin and ginger divine followed by a great chilli con carne and cheese platter for desert Hubby had Terrine pate followed by a fabulous ham cheese pie followed by a beautiful apple tart and ice cream. All washed down with a warming brandy coffee. a perfect afternoon with great hosts and quality service. We are very pleased to know that Le Cafe du Marche will be open all through winter for food and drinks. Thankyou Tania, Robert and Yan
When visiting Mortemart, stopping at Le Cafe du Marche is great way to spend a relaxing lunch, with homemade food, friendly service and, if sitting outside, a nice ambiance with the views of the village and nearby Chateau Des Ducs de Mortemart. Menu offers 2 choices for appetisers, 3 mains (including veggie option) and a number of desserts. All for 14.50 euros. Great value for your meal. Enjoy!!!
What can I say. We pulled in to the village to be greeted by the owner and his friends. They could not have been more welcoming and jovial. They were so kind, making us a salad and charcuterie plate long after food had finished. The hospitality was the best we have had all week in France. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Merci bien! PS our car caused quite the stir too

We passed through the beautiful village of Mortemart today and stumbled across Le Cafe du Marche. What a find! We had a beautiful lunch of roast pork complete with crackling for such a reasonable price we thought we'd read the menu wrong! A beautiful location, wonderful food and drink and great hosts in Tania and Robert who made us feel like old friends.
What a lovely spot to be in and enjoy this beautiful place. A great bar with a fab atmosphere and the food looked really good. The Plat De Jour menu was really inviting but we had eaten an hour before and wished we hadn't. The owners Robert and Tanya are great host and you must try this place if you're in the area
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The hosts Rob and Tanya really do make you feel welcome. The food was gorgeous and felt comfortable straight away. Met great people and will definitely be making it a regular place to go.
A must visit for lunch, beautiful surroundings, excellent service and exceptional home cooked fresh food. Would highly recommend and will be back again soon
