We had eaten a huge and wonderful lunch (at Les Forets in Gigondas), and were looking for a local spot where we could get a small bite for supper. Our hosts (the Grassiots, owners of the fabulous Chateau de la Vernede) recommended Le Potager as...the spot for us, warning us to share one salad between us. Great advice. As its name suggests, Le Potager de la Tour is located across the main road from the tower that once marked the Villeneuve end of the Pont D'Avignon. Beautiful ambiance and pleasant service and above all really good food and wine. We went twice and both meals were top class. Menus was extensive enough to give choice but not so big that you would suspect freezer bags in use! Salad starters are delicious...and enormous and there is no problem if you wish to share. Expect to pay about 80 Euros for two including a bottle of wine.
