Lunchtime at Le Tracteur,a completely off the beaten path and excellent restaurant serving local, traditional French food with a twist. Located in the village of Argilliers near our base in Uzes, a camera-shy and sometimes scowling Chef Numa Testud and wife Clelia di Medio helm...an unpretentious, affordable, lovely place, which apparently only the locals know about with their glorious patio a perfect place to enjoy a beautiful spring lunch. Sometimes open, sometimes not, Chef Numa cares not for pretense. While his wife works the front room, sunny patio and wine cellar, Chef produces lovely food with a French twist. As soon as I had my pass sanitaire checked I realised that something was different. I went into the kitchen and realised that numa, his wife and the whole team had gone. Wow! We have been going there since the beginning and were witnesses to...its remarkable evolution into a terrific restaurant, very sought after. And after talking to the new propietere she informed me that yes , they had sold up and moved on. They have certainly kept the spirit of the place and improved the courtyard with better tables and chairs.. still the same chalkboard menu with the same sort of choices. We were coming out of Uzes and passed le tracteur on the chance it might be open. They have limited opening hours so one never knows. They were and we had another great meal there although it was the first time I’d tried lunch. Same...format, 3 starters and desserts and fish or meat main. We chose three starters and split them like tapas. Sardines, mackerel and asparagus each in their own wonderfully inventive way with the freshest ingredients. Still by far the best restaurant in the region by a long way. Glass of wine dessert and coffee came to less than €50. Also the courtyard gets better and better every year

Loved this restaurant which is slightly hidden away so you need to know its there. A small menu, two or three choices per course based on what is fresh that day so lovely food. Dishes are very regional so you will find yourself eating things...you may not have before be brave! Little if any English spoken but that doesn't matter the staff are lovely and will look after you. A real authentic experience.
The unpretentious, family-staffed restaurant is one of the favorite places for locals to go for perfectly prepared south of France foods. Chefs and cooking school gurus around Uzès say it's their top choice. The imaginative menu is boosted by the restaurant's simple setting that's like...an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Friends highly recommended this place so we made a point of going. Perhaps it was just the choices that day, but we weren't very impressed. Prices are reasonable and the setting outside was fun but we've eaten better nearby where we didn't have to go...thru hoops to get a reservation.
that was always a favorite restaurant of me in the past. after 2020 lockdown, the restaurant has now opened again, and it is not disappointed. the terrace has been refreshed and lets them shade better in the hot summer sun. eating is still amazingly good and...biger worth. excellent.
