My sister goes to Rice University and comes here often with her friends, so she recommended that we go here for lunch. Walking in, I loved the atmosphere and decor of this place. It reminds me of a Trader Joe 's but in restaurant form. All of the staff were super friendly, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the Crunchy Chicken Sandwich with Old Bay Potato Chips and House Dill Pickle Spears. The oven roasted chicken was slightly dry, but the buttermilk ranch made up for it. As for the food, it was excellent! I highly recommend the Crunchy Chicken Sandwich—it's huge! We could have easily shared one, but I’m glad to have leftovers. Oh, and the potato salad side was phenomenal. You know that strange, mayonnaise-based potato salad that you typically dislike? This is nothing like that; it’s really, really good, though I can’t quite figure out the ingredients.
Also, the blackberry green tea was delicious, especially with three packets of Splenda mixed in. I love that it was sugar-free since we try to avoid added sugars. Honestly, we should have just ordered two of those from the start. Sorry, guys, but it was all so good!
Local foods has been a long-time favorite of mine. I love the Garden Sammie (both salad and sandwich are delicious), truffled egg sandwich, crunchy chicken (both salad and sandwich are good) and their matcha latte. My husband tried the quinoa burger and it is probably the best vegan burger I’ve ever had. I love the combination of flavors and textures in all my favorite dishes and appreciate the creativeness because they are all unique in their own way. Delicious!
Great food always fresh and complex. One thing you can't say about Local Foods' menu is that it's boring! The ambiance at this location is also cozy and family friendly. I appreciated the outdoor space with fans!
