We've been frequenting this restaurant for many years, and it used to be one of our favorites. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case. The new owners have let us down. The quality of the food has declined significantly—sometimes we receive undercooked fish and overcooked chicken strips. My husband raised his concerns while paying, and while the staff member apologized, the owner's wife just stood there, clearly ignoring him. This has soured our experience, and we no longer consider this our favorite place to eat. Sadly, we will be looking for alternatives.
I'm 73 years old and used to own a family restaurant. I dined at The Lumber Yard tonight and ordered the half portion of their chicken fried steak. Unfortunately, it was the worst I've ever had — it was mostly breading, and I've seen more meat on a single McDonald's burger. I expressed my disappointment to the server, but when I spoke with the manager at checkout, I was told, “Oh, we have good chicken fried steak, stuffed potatoes,” and they had the audacity to call what I received a chicken fried steak. With two drinks, my bill came to almost $29.
Ill give the food 4 stars but the service is below average. Millennials that should be maybe at most dishwashers. They sell dessert but never offer it. If they would hire servers this place would be very busy. Great looking decor and the food isnt too bad but the servers suck something horrible. Been here at least 6 times. Only once did I get good service. Oh well saves me tip money. Update today food was outstanding the service was better. Prices and atmosphere is great as well!
The owner offered me half off the meal, but given my long history with the restaurant and the fact that I had never had any issues before, I felt I deserved more than a mere discount or at least a replacement. I decided to decline the half-off offer and told her to keep it. We ended up paying for both meals entirely. When I mentioned at the register that I wouldn't be returning, her response was, "Glad you told me."
So, goodbye, Lumberyard — I won’t be coming back.

It has been 2 years since eating here and it was just as tasty as last time! Service was fast and kind. I got the 'Swiss Peppercorn Burger ' or something like that and it was phenomenal. Pricing is excellent.
This is one of favorite spots. We love the food and the staff. Every time we have visitors we always take them here.
The chicken fried steak had a lot of breading, which was disappointing. I also found the service to be lacking.
Had there hamburger which was great but had their fried avocado ready to go back and try more.

Best chicken fried steak! Fried squash is delish’ as well! Best home cook food!
