My best friend and I nipped out for some lunch and found this gem of a place right by the canal great viewing of boats coming and going the greeting we got inside was genuine and friendly the food blew us both away my best friend had the steak pie and I had the chicken and leek one every morsel was totally delicious proper home cooked chips wow and to top it all proper gravy!! It’s the best meal we have both had our in a very long time excellent can’t recommend it highly enough

Extremely disappointed with our festive lunch yesterday Our group of four didn't enjoy our food....cold....the salmon dry the potatoes not cooked....the turkey dry the pig in blanket overcooked....the mash awful. ....the choc cake broughtt not home made...the cream sour....and theirmeals used to be high sandard.......not a good recommendation from us..will mit be re visiting maybe non chef was on tbe sauce

Great cooked breakfast with a large or regular option, which was very popular during the Download Festival and very busy. Old fashioned pub with lots of nooks and crannys, friendly bar staff. Large outdoor area by the canal, small car park.

Situated right by the canal, seating outside. It's a small very friendly pub excellent food. There are board games embroiderd in the wooden tables. Very friendly staff atmosphere here. Would highly recommend.

Good proper pub grub at good prices. The pies were great slices of a big pie just like the old school dinners style and very tasty. Good to see a varied selection even on a Sunday. Nice place.

Love this place. Nice breakfast beside the canal, then plenty to see on a local walk. Great choice of beers when you get back.

Just stopped for a drink on our walk so don't know about the food. Great wine and great atmosphere. Helpful staff.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Good sized portion of roast beef. Properly cooked and piping hot. Home cooked too. .
