I enjoyed my sushi roll so much that I felt compelled to write my review as soon as I could. I have to admit that my expectations for the sushi roll were mild, considering that they serve also great Mexican seafood. I just didn't believe that BOTH the Mariscos and sushi could be good. But El Chavalon defied those expectations If you are craving sushi--great sushi--this is your spot. Forget those authentic, Japanese restauraunts--there aren't any close by. This is Commerce/Maywood area, and this is hands down the best sushi you'll find in the area. I purchased the cilantro roll. I grew up in Maywood, so I was really excited when this place opened. The reviews looked promising! However, when I finally visited, I was disappointed. The service was overly demanding and subpar. I wanted to enjoy my meal in a relaxed atmosphere, but the server made me feel rushed. While the food may look appealing, I won't be returning. Customer service is just as important as the quality of the food.
I had the fried shrimp tacos, they were really tasty,my husband had the shrimp coctel also really good, they devain the shrimp here which is good, it makes a big difference in the taste. The place is very clean and the employees are nice and helpful. You can either sit inside but it's a bit small or outside in the back, most people that come here also get their cars washed at X Press Auto Detail.
The worst part was the long wait time; it was extremely hot inside, and there were no other customers waiting. The staff member who assisted us was slow and kept forgetting my order. I had to repeat myself multiple times, and he still got it wrong. I ended up spending $20 on one roll, one taco, and one drink, which feels like money wasted!

The sushi here is fantastic, offering a delightful fusion of flavors. One downside is the lack of parking. The seating with barstool chairs is comfortable, though somewhat limited in space. They also have two signature drinks—melon and strawberry milk—which were both excellent.
Tryed the tacos here while I was having my work van washed and to my surprise I found a new great fish shrimp and lobster taco please amazing taste this will be my new shrimp and fish taco place
Love the fried shrimp tacos and shrimp ceviche. The cook Manuel is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. He treats everyone with respect and friendliness
Love the fish tacos but it looks like it closed down. Came here today around noon and i thought it was closed but they just opened up

The salmon taco exceeded my expectations!! The flavor was really good, not overwhelming! The wait was pretty long but worthwhile.
A little hidden gem in Maywood even if you're not getting your car washed they have great sushi and tacos.
