I stumbled upon this amazing little restaurant because of the bad traffic on the Palisades, so I decided to take an exit into what I think is Englewood, NJ. The restaurant, Matsuyama, can only seat about 15 people in its tiny space. The food was outstanding, especially the scallop sushi and seafood soup. The husband and wife team who own Matsuyama work together to provide fresh food made to order. The wife takes excellent care of the guests while the husband prepares the food. I would give this restaurant 10 stars because 5 stars just aren't enough.
I recently ordered takeout from this restaurant for dinner and I must say, it was absolutely fantastic. The food was a 5 out of 5, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was top-notch. I highly recommend trying their sushi and miso soup - they were definitely the highlights of my meal!
I have never seen such small sushi portions before. It seems that this restaurant has significantly decreased their serving sizes. I will not be ordering from here again. The delivery service has a rating of 3, and the food and atmosphere are both rated a 2. The price per person is $100+.
