I was treated to these empanadas by a friend. Normally, I buy her food when we go out to eat, but this time she took care of it. I snapped this picture at the 2023 Festival del Rio Anacostia (Anacostia River Festival) in Bladensburg, MD. Honestly, these are probably the best empanadas I've ever had! I tried both the beef and chicken varieties, and they had a perfectly crispy shell with delicious filling. The line was quite long at times in the afternoon, which shows just how popular they were. I'm tempted to return to the festival, but the entrance can be tricky. It's notoriously difficult to access since there’s no turn light and multiple lanes to navigate before you can turn into the park...
This is my kinda place: family owned, friendly service, and tasty dishes cooked with attention to detail. Probably the best Dominican food I've had in our county. The beef empanada was flakey and crisp without being dry, and the yucca was similarly done lightly fried without being either too greasy or too dry. Near perfect. Hot bar with several choices of different fried rice, beef stew, chicken stew, catfish, oxtail, etc. The chicken stew was fantastic: flavorful without being too spicy or overwhelming. I plan on going back and trying everything on the menu!
My coworker from the Dominican recommended this place and I'm glad he did. I travel to the Dominican every 3 or 4 months and developed a craving for chicaronne's. I kept it simple and just ordered the chicaronne with yuca and onions, this was the most tender yuca I've ever had and the meat was delicious. the only thing missing was an ice cold Presidente light beer. I'll definitely be returning in the future.
Pros: This is some of the best Dominican food I’ve ever tasted! I was assisted by Dani, who was incredibly kind and patient. My friend was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes and really enjoyed her meal as well. I ordered the oxtail, rice and beans, and maduros.
The only downside? I wish I had discovered this place sooner!

I agree food is excellent and fresh. The salad and uuuffff the chicharron was crisp and crunchy and juicy. The was rice and the empanadas all so good. You need to try it. Best in the area. And I’m from Jersey so it took me back home. Food: 5
I highly recommend this place! The oxtail dinner was incredibly tasty and full of flavor! This has become my new favorite spot for authentic Dominican cuisine.
