We decided to try this restaurant for dinner tonight since it is located in the CBD. After a disappointing meal with my family a few months ago, we were informed that the restaurant had made improvements so we gave it another chance. We ordered a $15 hamburger and a $22 calamari dish. When the food arrived, the waitress apologized and mentioned that she had asked the chef to add more food to the calamari dish as it was more like an appetizer than a main meal. Despite our polite explanation that we returned based on positive feedback about the improvement, the quality of the food did not meet our expectations. I ordered a skinny flat white in a mug, but received a cappuccino in a mug instead. My friend ordered a cappuccino in a cup, but received a skinny flat white in a cup. When we raised the issue with the waitress, she simply asked if we were happy with the mix-up or if we wanted her to change them. The coffee tasted good, but could have been hotter.
Overall, the food was lackluster and the waitress seemed bored with her job. She could use some improvement in customer service skills. There is a lot of potential here. Service was excellent and there is this beautiful Bali garden decor. Was served very quickly and food came out exceptionally fast. I tend to walk to main street but due to rain stayed close to the hotel. I ordered avocado smash which was 14.50 and an extra egg for 3.00. The food was okay, a lot more salsa than avocado. I might brave the rain and try elsewhere tomorrow. Turkish bread was extra soft and lovely. Coffee was great - i would come back for coffee
We were disappointed to find that there was no indoor seating with air conditioning, so we had to sit outside and endure the heat. It seems like this is the norm for summer in Mackay. Despite that, we had a trio of dips and a BLAT burger for lunch, both of which were quite enjoyable. The coffees were decent, but the service was a bit slow. Fortunately, we were on vacation so we didn't mind too much. The restaurant is located near the lagoon, but it wasn't very crowded during our visit.

I have dined here before and am always impressed by the service but tonight I had the spaghetti marinara which is my personal favourite and it was truely great. Large chunks of fish, squid and prawns in a tomato napoli sauce. It was just a little sweeter than I am used too but it was splendid. Top that off with a delightful waitress and it was a top meal. This meal is highly recommended.
I really like this place. The food and coffee is fantastic. Great customer service is hard to come by in this area but these guys and girls have it mastered. Always welcoming, smiling and interested in their customers. It's the small/simply things that have the greatest effects. Good job.
Stopped in for takeaway to bring back to my hotel. Owner? Was very helpful and accommodating. Extremely friendly. Prices were on Par with other local spots. Food was hot and quick. Nice salad extra with spring rolls. Decadent desserts. Only wish they had to pack a fork in my bag.
Open early for breakfast and throughout the day to mid-evening. Friendly efficient wait staff and a broad menu for all tastes (burgers, pasta, salads) and a good selection of desserts.Prices very reasonable.GOOD VALUE !

My 12 year old daughter and I lunched at Cafe Metro on a visit to Mackay. Food was good, vege burger tasty, fish n chips huge! Service was good. No lasting impression but nothing bad to say either. Convenient position.
