We may have been a little bit behind the times but we ‘discovered’ Mishra’s kitchen in late 2013 on recommendation of friends. The restaurant had been open since 20q11 and in our opinion was the best kept Indian secret of Melbourne’s Western Suburbs. Serving contemporary Indian cuisine, Mishra does a magnificent job and at very reasonable prices. His Butter Chicken is a firm favourite with our family and never disappoints. The sauces are sublime, the meat and seafood, fresh and tender. Tonight we tried the Jhinga Madras, a spicy prawn curry with Mustard seeds and coconut milk. I always make a trip out to Yarraville to visit Mishra's Kitchen when I'm in town. As someone with many Indian relatives, I'm no stranger to excellent, authentic curries, and know how hard they can be to find outside of a family kitchen. However, thanks to Mishra's, the search is over. My top tip (well, this goes for any curry house really) is to ask the chef what he recommends rather than go for the obvious choices. Oh, but when it comes to Mishra's, be sure to ask for the chocolate naan...you probably won't finish it, but it's certainly a treat...
A group of us needed takeaways and a local recommended Mishra's as reliable. To me the food seemed ordinary, unsophisticated. I tried mildly hot beef and chicken dishes. In both cases the meat was free of gristle and fat, but the chunks were ungainly. Nobody in the group expressed any criticisms, but I noticed not all the food was eaten and no one was eager to take the leftovers. Conclusion: acceptable average for takeaways.
We were pleasantly surprised with the complimentary pappadums and that was pretty much it. The palak paneer was the worst with absurd amounts of cardamon that rendered it inedible. The butter chicken was alright and the lamb rogan josh was perhaps the better curry dish. Paying $3 for the garlic naan was disappointing as there was no garlic that we could see or taste.

A very enjoyable experience of very tasty Indian food . the service was 1st class very helpful waitresses good choices on menu also was very quick in coming to the table and the beers were cold I can recommend this with confidence as I have never been let down by the quality of this restaurant will be back soon for more
You can not get better value for quality than Mishra's. We have been here with friends a number of times an it is always excellent,; food & service. A couple of us like our curries 'really hot' and on the last visit Mishra can through with the goods; the meal was delightfully hot. Would recommend Mishra's to anyone.
Having travelled extensively around the world this really is the best Indian I have ever had The Butter Chicken is to die for... everything on the menu is delicious and Sanjiv makes the experience top notch!
We love this place. Staff are so friendly, papadums keep kids quiet before dinner and the butter chicken is demolished in the shortest time possible. Thanks Mishra

We went with a couple of friends to eat here and we all really loved this place. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. I will be coming back here.
