At Mr. Pup, you’ll find genuine food made by genuine people. The dishes here aren’t dressed up to be something they’re not. The ingredients are authentic, the meals have a rustic charm, and everything is cooked to perfection. While many restaurants opt for more elaborate presentations, it’s places like this that we truly need. During my visit, I noticed the owners chatting with other hardworking locals, and you could really feel the friendliness, the community spirit, and, most importantly, the care that goes into their food. I would recommend only trying the hotdogs here. The drinks were outdated, and while the cook was friendly, the food was underseasoned. The burger I received was overcooked and, despite the cook saying it was a burger without tomatoes, it was piled high with them. Additionally, the setup looked like a convenience store had been sold off and the owner simply moved their leftover equipment over—there were mini fridges and odd stands that don't really fit a hot dog stand. If you're looking for better prices and food, you might as well head to Paradise Pup just down the road.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We visited when they weren't busy. We ordered an Italian beef sandwich, a cheese dog, and cheeseburgers, and we received a generous amount of food for the price. The Italian beef was amazing, and the fries were fresh. The lady at the front was really funny; when I asked for her recommendation, she mentioned that the food is so good she eats there herself. I would definitely go back!
This restaurant offers all the classic favorites, including cheeseburgers, hearty steak fries, hot dogs, and they're particularly famous for their gyros. I tried the pizza puff, and it was excellent—light and flaky with no oiliness. It's a great old-school hot dog spot in Des Plaines, boasting very quick service. While it may seem small, there are at least 12 booths available for seating.

Excellent Chicago Dog! Years ago, during my trips to Chicago, my father would grab Mr. Pup hot dogs for me on his way to the airport and bring them back as carry-on. Although eating them a few hours later might have taken away some of the freshness, they were still fantastic hot dogs that had made quite the journey to reach me... Delicious!
A Dog in a Bun is a fantastic place! I really appreciate how they use fresh ingredients in their hot dogs. Their tamales are tasty, and the fries are great as well. I highly recommend Mr. Pup!
Best hot dog that I've had in a long while, especially for the price. Nice, fresh toppings, including chunks of tomatoes. Fries are great, too. Usual booth seating on the inside.
It's always my first stop when I come home from California. I've been going to this place for 40 years, and it never disappoints. The food is as delicious as ever!
