Ok so I'll say that this may be a touch tainted because I went in starving.....That being said I'm pretty fussy, especially when it comes to my frozen margarita. This one was bang on, just the right amount of sweet, alcohol, and a touch of salt, nice. The food wasn't modern gourmet Mexican, it was a plate full of bang on, tasty classic Mexican flavour explosion, and I loved it. That being said, 3 mains and 2 drinks set me back $102. Which feels about $20/$25 overpriced to me. And that can be the difference to people going back once a month, or once or twice a fortnight. I'd rather have my restaurant full several nights of the week than just on Saturdays.
Firstly our $39 jug of cocktail was served in a basic plastic jug and water glasses.... I saw every other table have goblet type glasses for their cocktails. Food was nicely flavored and warm. However the chicken and corn burrito almost make me vomit. The consistency is like mushy pet food. In saying this, I think all Mexican food is like this, perhaps Mexican isn't my thing. Would have liked fresh tomato and lettuce in the burrito. Service was good. The girls were friendly however could be improved by letting people finish their mouthful before taking plates away. I wouldn't be coming back again.
We have been coming here for over 10 years for family gatherings and birthday. It's the perfect halfway point for those of us who live on the peninsula and the other half in bayside. Whilst servings used to be generous and the food fresh, it seems to have taken a bit of a downward turn of late. Guacamole tastes like it is from a bottled squeezy tube and not fresh and portions are significantly smaller! For what you pay for a main meal ($25+) I think it's a shame they've cut the portion sizes as I don't think it's value for money anymore. Such a shame as I don't think we will be back.
This is not great Mexican food...in fact, I prefer cooking my own Old El Paso tacos at home and for 1/3 the price. The main dishes are all well over $20 and some are even over $30...considering what you can get in Melbourne for $30 a main, this place is the worst value restaurant in the city...yet it is always busy!I suppose people around here just don't have many other options for Mexican, but besides the service and nice fireplace, I am amazed this place stays so busy.

They used to be value for money but now the fillings and servings are small and not as much meat. coupons also been stopped. to many nachos not enough meant and cheese. bring back the old way. we got through a set of drinks before the main meal came another way to make u drink more service is very very slow
We are a family of four and have eaten at Nachos Cantina probably 12 times (every 4 months or so) and all of us just loved the food every time and we have ordered many different items off the menu. The service is good and staff are very friendly, but the food is a standout.
