New Happy Garden Restaurant

As a graduate in Hospitality Mgt with decades of experience I know that New Year's Eve is a difficult challenge for many restaurants. This (mainly take-out) restaurant has had some 10 years to come up with coping strategies to address the high volume. Their solution? Don't answer the phone! Expecting a lengthy wait time, I began phoning at 4 pm from another town. "The customer you have reached has not set up their voice-mail box". What? After 10 years? Had I heard a message like "Sorry, but we have reached capacity and can no longer take orders for dinner tonight" that would have been acceptable. Or, hire extra help for the night to answer the phone, if only to let people know you're too bus...

As being the only Chinese restaurant close by to where I live in Elora, and seemingly better than the one in Fergus, we used to order take-out quiet often. Portion are big, food is done as good as it can be for this style of restaurant.Then, one day I found a piece of metal wire in a chicken piece of the large War Wonton soup they have in the menu. This threw me off so badly that I stop ordering food take-out from them.The staff and owners are very friendly and always threw in few extra cookies for my kid, though the not-so-attentive food quality and the risk of swallowing a piece of metal doesn't make me feel safe to eat there anymore.

The dumplings are really tasty and the Shanghai noodles are very good. A large selection of North American Chinese dishes and a smaller selection of sezchwan. Very good service and friendly staff. It's attached to the Village Inn so convenient for travellers staying at the Inn. A good place for lapse real people to share dishes for a very reasonable price. I would not recommend the hot and sour soup.

Had good reviews from others and decided to have take out from here on Boxing Day. Main room was packed at just before 500 pm but still were able to get out six course order in under 30 minutes. Particularly enjoyed the huge chicken chunks in the Sweet n sour chicken balls, the veggie egg foo young and the chicken in black bean sauce. When in a pinch the food works; not the best I have ever had but alright. The lemon chicken is quite good and so is the Shanghai noodles...however they use massive chunks of broccoli to replace other portions of the meal. A little expensive and very slow service. Called in meal and was told 25 mins; it took 1 hour and 45 minutes

The food is standard Canadian Chinese fare but they do offer a wide variety of dishes. The service is friendly and quick. Tons of take out orders going through the kitchen while we were there. If you are looking for a quick fix of Chinese Food, you can't go to far wrong here.

This is the best Chinese food in the area. We order here often as the food is delicious! The owners are very nice. The prices are average for Chinese food restaurants, the portions are large or you can order a dinner combo instead.

Best Chinese restaurant in Fergus and Elora. Wide variety of foods as well as a great atmosphere. its no surprise that they do take-out. far more than sitting in, you'll notice that when you indulge yourself :). Reserva una mesa ahora

We have never had a bad thing from this restaurant . Very tasty. The people that work there are delightful and obliging . There take always are always hot and tasty and always right . It is heart warming food.

The food has always been consistant ....VERY GOOD .... the service is quick and friendly with everything priced right . Don't be fooled by the exterior go on in and enjoy !
