We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant! It feels like a high-end establishment you'd find in the city center, yet it is quietly situated in the heart of Jenkintown. The food is extraordinary, and the drinks are fantastic! We were celebrating our wedding anniversary on this particular evening. I had requested the small table by the window when I made the reservation, and upon our arrival, Jennifer had placed a little "Reserved" sign to save it for us! There are many reasons why I keep coming back to Newbold’s. The first reason is their vegetarian offerings. From starters to entrees, there are a handful of options. One of my favorites is the caramelized Brussels sprouts. Secondly, I absolutely love the ambience in the bar area. It’s dark, cozy, like a modern day speakeasy. There’s a cute sofa near the bar for gathering with friends for drinks. Thirdly, the drinks. There’s a spirit for any palate. My go-to is a French gimlet. The staff are always friendly and never rush you out. Which is good because it’s the kind of place to lose track of time in.
A hidden gem. I came here for a date and I got the Risotto with Asparagus, Tomato and Spring Onion. It was creamy, tart (from the tomatoes) but super delicious. One of the best risottos I?ve ever had. My date got the Salmon over Potatoes and Spinach. He seemed to really like the dish. He finished the whole thing! The outside seating was a great option for a gorgeous day outside. They have meter parking in the back. They also have a nice selection of cocktails, wines, and beers. Our server Abby was kind and attentive. I definitely have to come back again to try their burgers and pizzas!
Decided to check them out on a beautiful Friday evening. Outside seating was very nice. Service was great! And course the food came out hot, punctual, and oh, so good. We were stuffed. Started with cheese curls and marinara sauce, potato croquettes and dipping sauce. Followed with Risotto with tomatoes and other mixed vegetables. Along with a chicken sandwich with fries. The cocktails were delicious. The place is split with options to have your standard menu and their pizza menu. Inviting bar area as well. The food was subpar, and the service was below average. Perhaps I went on an off night, but it seemed like the staff could benefit from additional customer service training. We had our meal at the bar, and the bartender appeared to be more interested in his phone than in ensuring we received good service. The ambience was lovely, which makes it unfortunate that the food and service didn't live up to that standard.
This place went well beyond our expectations. The drinks/cocktails were delicious but the food was next level. Ricotta gnocchi and potato croquettes were enough to be a full meal even though they?re considered starters, but they were both out of this world. We had the risotto and the bacon onion jam burger for entrees and they were both perfect. Great atmosphere, friendly staff highly recommend!
