We decided to grab a quick sushi lunch before heading back to the Bay Area. No 1 Kazuko is located right across the street from my hotel the San Gabriel Hilton on Valley Blvd. I made reservations and was seated right away. There is a QR code menu but we were handed a lunch menu which we ordered from. Deluxe Chirashi 4 stars nice fresh cuts of fish but nothing special that makes it deluxe. No 2 Bento 4 stars comes with grilled mackerel, tempura, sashimi and a salmon tuna poke salad. Nigiri sushi lunch 4 stars normal cuts of fish Service was good. Parking in the rear at the Del Mar Ranch 99 shopping center. If you sit at the booths near the sushi bar there is a TV.
I haven't been here in decades. It's changed owners that time, but this latest iteration ain't bad. Excellent customer service. Tried their Monkey Brains and Gizzard skewer. The Monkey Brains (not real monkey Brains, you racist! we're an interesting concoction. The chicken gizzard skewer was seasoned just right, and not overcooked had the right amount of feedback on the outer layer, with enough juiciness within. Although for the price, couldn't you have thrown in 1 more skewer?
Came here and honestly did not expect much. We all know sushi in the 626 isn't the greatest but this place exceeded my expectations. They have bar area seating, tables and booths. Restaurant is on the small side so I can see them get crowded. The sushi and all the items we got were delicious and fresh. Would definitely come back again if I want good sushi but don't want to venture into Little Tokyo.
Pleasantly surprised of the freshness and tastiness of all the sashimi and yakitori dishes ordered. We ordered different sashimi (raw shrimp, black sea bream, chu-toro, uni, or-toro), oysters, unagi, and yakitori (beef tongue, chicken wings& chicken gizzards). It was a busy night in LA. The lakers were playing on the western finals. The service was a bit slow, but the food was great. Some of the best raw fish I've ever eaten and I've eaten a lot of raw fish...like a shark.

Wasn't in the mood for sushi and teriyaki anything. Was thinking of having to make do with skewers and whatnot. But the Tokyo fried rice was AMAZING.Food: 5/5
