Call me old fashioned, or just old. To me pre-theatre dinner is a nice quiet restaurant with pleasant knowledgeable waiters and calm and comfortable surroundings. No Mafia is none of those things. And definitely not a place if you were born before 1990.We had tickets to the absolutely fabulous Tartuffe at Heath Ledger Theatre and were looking for an early dinner before the show. Having never heard of the No Mafia, we decided to try.The place is a 2m wide 'noodle' running along the bar with three American diner style booths at the end and for some weird reason a big screen showing 50s style clips. None of the Italian.We were seated at a "trendy" high table with metal chairs, my stilettoed fee...
There is a cool atmosphere and vibe here - becoming of the Northbridge area. It feels very authentic.It is not an Italian pasta restaurant! As a matter of fact they didn't have any pasta on the menu (only Gnocci which is strictly not ordinary pasta)However, I highly reccomend going to Nomafia unless you are craving pasta. There are many other nice dishes here. We tried three different ones. The Flank steak, the beef cheaks and the Gnocci. All three had great taste and a decent size to cover most needs.We sat right in the middle of the restaurant and could follow the kitchen in there preparations.The restaurant has a small selection of vines both bottle or by the glass. Nothing fancy, but ok....
Does for country Italian food what La Cholita did for Mexican.Thank you to the waitress at the wine bar over the road who recommended this.This long, thin room with its cramped bar and booths at the back packs a surprisingly big welcome.The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and dealt with a busy Sat night crowd quickly and courteously. The food is awesome, the lamb and white beans we had was amazing. This is rustic Italian food, reminded me of the menu at Galileo but much more informal and half the price.Killer menu of before- and after- drinks too.Can we go again? Can we? Can we?
my wife and I thought we would try this place after seeing it on a list of 22 restaurants in Northbridge to try. This is a very casual dining place with tables right out onto the sidewalk. The food was great and being able to sit and watch the world go by as we dined was wonderful. most of the dishes are designed for sharing as you are given small plates to share the food on - a great idea to avoid food envy !!!Great Italian Food and great service. well priced and licenced to serve alcoholA must visit if you are in the City

This place has been on our list for a while, always looked like it was jumping every time we walked by. We went for a quick snack before a show and it was a great experience and we'll go back for a longer indulgence soon
This is a nice looking place and the staff have the typical outgoing Mediterranean style, but the food was just bland and very unexciting. I would have expected some Italian flavours, but couldn't find any at all.
Tapas or piccoli piatti at Nomafia was awesome after Aisuru sushi for entrees. Staff very friendly and welcoming - food tasty and good value. Not a huge selection but enough to be interesting. Great wines.
Dropped in for a drink Service was very attentive and servers friendly The house red and white wines were both pleasant Shared the croquettes with capsicum dressing and they were very good

very interesting restaurant, it reminds me of Brooklyn. The food is excellent as is the wine list and very professional service.
Delicious food. Very friendly and unpretentious staff. Nice narrow room with open kitchen. Will be back.
