Every time I come to town I tell myself that I should try Oberweis Ice Cream and this trip, I finally did! AMAZING!! We went inside and placed our order for chocolate chip ice cream cones. We saw the tables with the chessboards and just had to play. What a great idea! The ice cream was delicious, very rich and creamy and the chips had a great chocolate flavor. We both really enjoyed our cones. We both hadn't played chess in years so it was fun to remember how! It was getting pretty late and we'd had a full day walking in the city and we were really tired, so we called the chess game a draw. But the ice cream cones were a win for sure!
We drove through the drive-thru and bought dulce de leche and chocolate pints for a party. We were told that this ice cream was some of the best in the North. However, I was not impressed and found it to be too expensive for a pint. I spent over $21 on the ice cream. The service was good, the young man had excellent customer service skills and even practiced his Spanish with us. The atmosphere was casual and nothing remarkable. I don't think I would make a special trip here just for ice cream as I didn't find anything particularly special about it. I can't honestly say that I would recommend it, sorry.
I absolutely love coming to this restaurant in Bloomingdale! The staff here are fantastic and the drive-thru is very convenient. They are so friendly and cheerful on the intercom that I almost ended up ordering more than I intended to! We stopped by here yesterday while shopping for school uniform pants. The highlight of our day was trying the coconut almond and birthday cake flavors - they were absolutely amazing, decadent, and a nice occasional treat. It cost us $18, but it was definitely worth it! Don't forget to treat yourself every once in a while... you deserve it!
This location has a drive thru, but you may want to put your mask on and go inside if you don 't want to wait in the car. Ever since I discovered the Coconut Chocolate Almond, I have been eating nothing else. You can get 4 quarts of it for a price of 3!! That 's $21 for 4 quarts of happiness! Uber forgot half of our order. I called the store and he immediately knew what happened. His manager actually drove over the rest of the order himself and they also included extra items for free. Amazing. More places need to treat customers like this. Usually the app just gives a refund even tho the delivery fee and tax was on the total amount. This oberweis stepped it up. Very impressed. Thank you.
Came to this location twice this month. Both times I was unable to order black cherry ice cream unless I wanted to buy a quart to take home. Tonight same store and same story and this time not just black cherry ice cream, also coconut chocolate almond. We could buy a quart but could not order a scoop or two. Why not open a quart??? Why not forecast the need for ice cream people like.
I visited the drive-thru at this restaurant tonight and encountered the same employee as last week, Diana. Her demeanor was very uninviting, she didn't say thank you or show any appreciation. If you're not happy in your job, find another one. The management should look for employees who understand the importance of respect.
Oberweis is a great option for a nice local Illinois ice cream spot. They have so many options, great service, and the unique chess board tables. I love coming here with friends just to chat or play a few games or chess while enjoying ice cream. They also have a great selection and deal going on for ice cream pints.

OMG, the creamiest ice cream I've ever eaten. The teenager working the counter was aloof, but doled out samples when I asked.
I really love their banana royals sundae. It is so good. I highly recommend their sundae.
