I visited the Palate on a Thursday night and was pleasantly surprised by the urban industrial chic feel to the place. One walks in from the street down to an ultra cool beer garden. As one strolls into the bar area a huge collection of wines,spirits and cold beer on tap you instantly feel like the city has just melted far away with lilting French music and French waitresses asking you attentively for what you would like to drink.But the best was the fine dining Moulanrouge inspired restaurant 'Pondicherry' which boasts a degustation menu inpired by the world famous Chef Opel Khan also author of the book "Sex in the Kitchen" which is guaranteed to seduce the taste buds. This place could be dynamite but the price of the beer kills one's enthusiasm. In the city, at an exclusive night club, we don't object to paying extra for a glass of beer. But in working class Rydalmere $8 for a midi of some unknown brew is a bit steep. The food is OK but even that's on the pricey side. It's just a pub f'r Kryst sake, get a grip. I believe this place has been taken over by a Chinese concern and the food gets very high marks. Bottled beer only and a VB is $5. I don't object to that and I shall be bringing groups of people along to check it out.
After driving past their illuminated sign for so long I finally stopped in. The design was very urban and I felt like I was in Newtown. Funky atmosphere which was welcoming and different. At first look of the menu I was very interested to try many items. I went the burger option which my friend did as well and we were both extremely happy with our choices. I am very passionate about my fries/hot chips and these did not disappoint. The service provided by Theresa was extraordinary and I will be visiting again soon.
We dined with friends at the Palate Hotel just after Xmas. It was very quiet as you would expect between the Xmas and New Year break.On our first step in the door we were greeted and taken into the dining room, lovely décor and atmosphere. We were very impressed as we weren't sure what to expect from the "hotel". The service was great and the meals very good. The menu advertised is what is available on site. We will definitely be back for more!

Well organised xmas party in this reasonable sized venue. Food platters were good and beers and cocktails reasonably priced. It's a surprising place to find in Rydalmere that's mainly industrial, very much like an inner city small bar industrially scaled. Nice terrace area surprisingly getting no noise from the busy Victoria Road.
We dined here twice in 2014 and it was fantastic. We dined here in November 2015 and it was boring and the food was plain. The service was ok. It was hard to think a chef was in the kitchen. It was such plain food. We won't be back.
Went there with a few people from work and was busy but food came out in a reasonable time and was good, but I now see that it has a new name (and owners?) so can't comment on it now
This restaurant is no longer trading. Meeting friends there and found it shut. No signs or notice. Too bad cause it was something different in the area.

So I tried this place about 2 months back for dinner and went again for lunch this week.
