Panera offers genuinely transformative experiences. On one occasion, I ordered an apple salad, only to find that it contained no apples. This led me to ponder how an apple salad could lack its main ingredient. I realized that Panera was trying to teach me a lesson: things aren’t always what they seem, and it’s important to be prepared for surprises. Later, I opted for a four-cheese grilled cheese sandwich, and I sensed another underlying message. While most places serve a single-cheese variant, Panera was subtly suggesting that they provide more than four times the amount of food compared to typical restaurants.
This review is for the West Orange location. The staff and service are excellent. I usually order my favorite salad to go but decided to dine in this time. I had the full Fuji apple chicken salad with a side of baguette. The meal looked beautiful and was perfect, especially on such a lovely day. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find what appeared to be mold on some of the greens in my salad. Management was very polite and made efforts to resolve the issue. I was mostly upset about not being able to finish my favorite salad. I took a few days off from visiting, but I plan to return.
Panera offers life changing experiences. One time I ordered an apple salad and there was NO apples. Then that got me thinking an apple salad with no apples how can this be? But then I realized Panera was trying to teach me that everything is not what it seems and you always have to expect the unexpected. And then I ordered a four cheese grilled cheese but I knew there was another hidden message. Everyone usually has a one cheese grilled cheese so Panera is trying to tell me they offer more than quadruple the quantity of food than regular places.
This is my favorite Panera location, alongside the one in Edison, NJ. The staff here are consistently friendly and accommodating if you encounter any issues with your food, and the portion sizes are quite satisfactory. I've been to many Panera locations in various states, but the ones in New Jersey, particularly the West Orange site, really stand out. I also appreciate that they provide Wi-Fi, a fireplace, and comfortable seating. My egg white breakfast sandwich on a bagel was absolutely fantastic!

During my recent visit to my son's place, I dined at this restaurant for the first time, and I must say, it offered the best customer service experience I’ve ever had in North Jersey. While you might anticipate some typical Jersey attitude, the young ladies who attended to me, Hope and Donna, were incredibly friendly and eager to assist. I wholeheartedly recommend this spot to anyone!
Stopped by for a road trip pit stop classic! Ordered the classic Mac and cheese in a bread bowl. The Mac and cheese was tasty and creamy and was great with more carbs on the side! The bread bowl was tough and would recommend getting it in a bowl instead.
I ordered the chicken goddess sandwich, but there was no chicken on it! I spent over $40, and both sandwiches were missing the chicken. The soup was fine, but please double-check your takeout orders!
Good food with amazing staff. Donna is great and reminds me to order my desserts. This is my 96 year old Dad’s favorite place. He loves their soup and salad and sandwiches.

It was quite busy when I went to pick up my food, but the delicious salad more than made up for the slight delay I experienced.
Always a reliable choice for a great meal! The food is delicious, and their pizza and sandwiches are amazing.
