Pat a Cake Bakery - Reserva de mesa

Have been to this place on and off for years. The bakery side is fine. The cafe side isn't. It was always poor milky coffee, but the prices were relatively low and the sandwiches etc cheap, so it was fine. They now charge more for their coffee $3.80 if you believe. But it's still the same watery stuff. Their deli food is also not what it used to be. If you order a hot chicken roll, you won't get a roll, you'll get a baguette (or part thereof), with some chicken stuffed in a slit at the top and covered with mayonnaise. Awful.

So many bakeries sell "chunky steak" pies, but the "chunk" should be substituted with "mince and grissle". Not here - I was pleasantly surprised with the large chunks of real meat in both the chicken and meat pies I had. For the chicken pie - it was actual real big pieces of chicken breast and thigh. Really good pies - plus the cakes were really good. The chocolate doughnut was one of the best I've had.

We called in and it was not busy, waiting to be served whilst 5 girls were all chatting, one said wont be long, still waiting and that girl then asked another to serve, that girl said I'm doing this, 3 others were still busy chatting, finally we got served, 1st impressions, shocking service, coffee and cake nice. What a shame when it looked like all their food looked very delicious.

Sat on the bakeries own verandah in the sun today while we ate our lunch. The very best pies etc that you could find anywhere. Especially recommend the chunky steak or the chicken and mushroom. So flavoursome and full of meat. Coffee was very good also. Freshly made sandwiches could also be made and the wide range of cakes was too tempting. Very popular with take-away customers. Whenever I am travelling between Adelaide CBD and home this is a good lunch time stop. It was a great place to stop and talk after medical appointments as I tried to digest what the specialist had just told me. Love the cakes and the pastries. The large quiches have become a regular evening meal.

Stopped off for a quick pie today and it hit the spot. I had steak and mushroom and it was great. Large chunks of steak and no gristle at all. Outdoor seating in the sun is a plus too!

Great little bakery which gets very busy at lunch time. Excellent pastries. Love the Swiss Roll cakes. Great pies and pasties. Yummy! Reserva una mesa ahora

'eating in' but not offered a plate or cutlery. compared to other bakeries, the service and sense of being looked after was missing.

I do not normally like pastry but the pastry at Pat-a-cake is something else! The sausage rolls are out of this world!
