We eat at The Phoenix regularly and we think it is generally good food and also a lovely outdoor dog friendly space. I would recommend to people. However on our most recent visit we were shocked by how rude one member of staff was (middle aged female, brown short hair possibly manager) . As we arrived at the pub at the desk where you go when you have booked a table there was no hello or greeting of any kind and just got “have you got a booking” in a manner that seemed like we were inconveniencing her. Had planned a lunch as a treat for my partner, booked through their site for 12.45.. Arrived on time to be given a table for 4 stuck in an obviously part set up group space, and straight away even before we had sat down told that we only had table until 2pm...and then before even had chance to look at menu, was asked for our order..now we had planned to have a nice relaxed 3 course meal but felt that we had better only go for mains so as not to have to rush..it took 10 mins before order taken, then 20 mins for food to arrive, so just 30 mins to eat....ridiculous ...when food arrived my choice was wrongly fulfilled and I had to wait again for part of it. We are semi regulars to the Pheonix us...
We decided to go to the phoenix because we wanted to have our own little celebration as we’re getting married in a month! It’s local and we have never had a bad experience before. But this time, woooooowza, the ultimate burger and the mixed grill were INCREDIBLE, the drinks were amazing as always and just a side note, get the brownie, you should always. Get. The. Brownie. I took my elderly father here for Sunday lunch I have to say it was an all round excellent afternoon experience. The staff were superb, the food very good indeed (Trio of Roasts Sunday dinner), and the setting ambience of the pub/restaurant is lovely. My Dad has slight mobility issues, so they allocated us a lovely table in the restaurant with plenty of leg room space.....even though the restaurant was very busy indeed. Hats off thanks here to Management Staff alike we will 100% return.

Went for Sunday lunch with family and ordered the 'hand carved turkey '. The turkey was processed and soggy, definitely wasn 't carved off a fresh roasted turkey and the vegetables were hard and undercooked. Shame as the service was very good but food quality very disappointing!
Great Sunday lunch yesterday! Three roast dinner for all of us, whuch was excellent. Followed by puds and coffees. But what made the meal special were the truly helpful, polite and friendly staff a sure sign the managers really know what makes a restaurant come alive!
Went on 23nov for the festive 3 course Christmas meal the food and staff was amazing nothing was to much trouble for staff very relaxing and great atmosphere we go most Thursdays for food and a few drink great place to eat and drink and so relaxing 5 star
Visited again for a lovely evening meal on a Sunday. It was busy but we had pre-booked. I had garlic mushrooms to start then the mac and cheese and it was all delicious. Service was great at usual. Good varied menu and decent prices. We will be back soon!

Fantastic service and food ,I love this place, especially in the summer when eating outdoors is an option. Nice people, nice food and drink . What more could you ask for.
