I stumbled upon this little gem on Reddit while I was in Baltimore during lunchtime on my road trip. The sandwich I had was fantastic, and some friendly locals in line helped me understand the ordering process since I wasn't aware that I needed to specify the meat's temperature or what the standard toppings were (onions and horseradish sauce). I ordered that with their hand-cut fries, which were delicious. The prices were quite reasonable as well. Overall, the reputation of this place is well-deserved, and I'm glad I got to experience this Baltimore classic!
Look for a little shack with picnic tables outside. This place has the BEST PIT beef, ham, and turkey in Baltimore! They are not pretentious in any way. Very courteous and patient. They are open most all year round. 11am to 5pm every day except Sunday. There is usually a line, but it's worth the wait. You can still get a great sandwich for under $10. The flavor is not enhanced, and every cut is juicy!
Got regular medium put beef with tiger sauce, tomato and onion and a side of Cole slaw. Great sandwich overall, with a little smoky flavor. Would add more tiger sauce next time. Take out only, they have couple tables outside. CASH ONLY.
The Pit Beef here is excellent! I loved that it was made fresh to order. It has a wonderful smoky flavor and is very tender. The French fries were delicious as well. Just a heads up, make sure to bring cash!

Little hole in the wall spot for pit beef and it's amazing! Cash only but in my humble opinion better than chaps. Do yourself a favor and stop in, you won't be disappointed.
Nice! Especially liked the horseradish sauce. Brought my dog they were very cool giving him some scraps. Definitely would go back!
Pioneer Pit Beef is Awesome! The only thing that I would suggest is to slice the tomatoes and onions a bit thicker
Cash only hidden gem for pit beef, huge order of fries! Dip your fries in the Au Jus for deliciousness.
