We love this pub and always visit when in York, which is 10-12 times each year. I can't find an email address, which is why I have resorted to Trip Advisor. My wife, a knowledgeable enthusiast for dark beers, ordered a half pint of Bristol Beer Factory Milk Stout recently. She said it was a little vinegary, and I agreed. When she took it back to the bar and told the young barman this, he took it upon himself to sample it and then told her that this was how it was meant to taste. We know this beer well, and it was NOT how it is meant to taste. The pub was busy and it was only half a pint, so we didn't make a fuss (which would have been embarrassing for everyone). Cracking little boozer, loads of fresh and quirky beer to choose from, friendly staff, and a warm atmosphere. Even the security was helpful, making room for me seven friends when others turned us away for being in a group.
Excellent range of European beers great location in the shambles totally recommend A must stop for beer connoisseurs will be stopping in again on our next trip

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good range of beers—not the best but there you go. Nice scotch. But I think it’s all about the cost downstairs
Really great pub. Chatty and quirky staff with good knowledge of their beers had a really nice pint with my friends while on a night out
