I stopped by for a quick beer on a regular weekday and was pleasantly surprised to discover the back patio. They had a sour beer on tap, which is a rare find! I really loved the abundance of plants and the ample seating in the patio area. The staff were friendly, and the prices were in line with other places in the neighborhood—not too expensive, but not cheap either. It’s a wonderful place for a relaxed visit, unless you’re not a fan of German beer. I can imagine it gets quite busy on weekends due to all its attractive features. Parking can be a bit challenging, even during the week; I had to park on a residential street and walk a couple of blocks. But it was easy enough!
I love everything about this place. Let me start by stating that Mar Vista is a wonderfully underrated part of LA. The locals are kind, and there are many small businesses. There is all the good vibes of the beach without the stuck-up aesthetic common in SoCal beach cities.Now moving on to Rasselbock itself, outside and inside are worth sitting at, although I honestly prefer their back patio which is the best of both worlds, fresh air but with a bit of a roof over your heads. When it was rainy this November, I saw people get rained on while eating out front. All the same the heat lamps make it plenty comfy and the food is worth getting.
The schnitzel here is a must get, fried to a golden brown while still being moist and tender in the middle. The one with the wild mushroom sauce is our pick. Also tried the elk sausage which while unique didn't seem too different from any other sausage, maybe elk just has a light taste. The sauerkraut seemed like it was from a jar, the potato salad yummy homemade perhaps, the fries coated in a crispy batter, green beans were good, brussel sprouts probably the star of the side dishes, and skip the salad. All drinks were good. The potato pancakes were bite sized
We selected a table and sat down, but soon realized that we hadn't been given a menu. After about 20 minutes, the same server returned and told us we needed to move without offering any explanation. Although we complied, his attitude left us feeling frustrated. It seemed to take forever for him to return, and when he finally did, he yelled, "What are you going to order?" At that moment, we decided to leave. We don’t want to support a place where the staff clearly lacks the skills for customer service.

Great dog friendly spot for very authentic German food and imported beer! One of the very few bars in LA that carry my favorite beer of all time, Augustine Edelstoff (must try if you haven't). The portions for the food are pretty large, with the notableexception of the obatzda that came with the Bavarian pretzel we wish we had more of. The sauerkraut was really good as well.Highly recommend we'll be back for sure.
The vegetarian dishes are tasty, although they are slightly smaller in portion size compared to the meat options. They also boast a fantastic variety of beers! It tends to be busy whenever I pass by, but don’t let that discourage you; there’s outdoor seating available in the back too!
This charming little restaurant situated just off Venice Blvd boasts a wonderful atmosphere! The service was exceptionally fast, and the food was delightful—I tried the brats and pretzels. There is parking available with angled spots both on the block and in the nearby area.
This restaurant is fantastic! We had a delightful meal, and the schnitzel was especially tasty. Our only downside was feeling hurried to leave as the restaurant was closing. We were also asked if we wanted dessert while we were still eating.

Amazing food and great deals on huge glasses of German beer! The vegan wurst was amazing and the sides did not disappoint. But I think my favorite part of the meal was the apple strudel. Don?t miss out on the pretzel, either!
