I have been a regular visitor for many years and absolutely love the bread, coffee, and food overall. Today, I attended a sourdough workshop and I can't recommend it highly enough. The 'mystery' surrounding sourdough was completely cleared up, and I learned a great deal. We were well-fed and well-hydrated, and we left with course notes, a certificate, some leaven, flour to nourish our leaven, and several delightful loaves of bread. It was worth every penny. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day!

Thank you so much to John and the team at RedBeard Historic Bakery! John is an incredible and entertaining teacher with a wealth of knowledge that he generously shares. I had a fantastic time and learned so much. Starting tomorrow, John will be taking care of the leaven in the kitchen. I attended a sourdough baking class today with Al and had a great time. I don't often get a whole day to myself and couldn't think of a better way to have spent it. I learned so much, got to bring home the fruits of our labours in the bakery, ate a tonne of delicious bread and took home some tasty treats for my family. Thanks so much John and Al for your generous sharing of knowledge, food and community.

Had a fantastic experience. Scrambled egg on wheat free rye bread was awesome as was the Vienna sough dough. Max the baker allowed us behind the scenes and spent 30 minutes explaining the art of baking. It was fantastic if you get the chance go there not only for the fantastic bread but the lovely friendly staff who have such a passion for their trade .

A very busy Monday but handled very professionally by all staff. Gave us a fruit bun whilst we waited for breakfast. This was unexpected, generous and also delicious. Eggs on sour dough, excellent. Will always go back when I'm in the area and staff very friendly

I had the best bacon and egg pie I’ve ever tasted. I also picked up some delicious wholemeal sourdough bread and sourdough fruit buns to take with us. Was it worth the drive? Absolutely! The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is wonderful.

The sour dough baking course is one of the best things I have in ages. Great fun, very, very informative and terrific value. John is passionate, knowledgeable and a great teacher. Thoroughly recommend. And the food is excellent!
