Following a disappointing encounter with At'Able the previous evening we were once again optimistic about enjoying some good French cuisine and arrived at this restaurant without a reservation. They seated us on a table immediately opposite the entrance as they were fully booked. This turned out to be problematic for the people carrying food and plates in and out of the restaurant so they showed us to a table in a room at the rear which was fine. When our meals arrived my food had clearly begun to cool down but was still warm, however, my husband’s meal was actually cold. I could see that the waitress was genuinely surprised and apologetic and she returned a few minutes later with the food piping hot (thank God for microwave ovens!). As for the food quality, it was ok and certainly nothing special. A second evening of disappointment in Chinon. We will be visiting the lovely Chinon again so hopefully third time lucky when we return!
Really nice spot on the square, this is the restaurant that is connected to the Hotel de la France in Chinon. Was hoping for a better experience, may have been influenced by the fact I was traveling solo. Pate and appetizers were good, fish entree was just OK. Upside is local wines are inexpensive and very good - so the house wines are worth it! Staff was indifferent and slow to respond...this is a nice city, in a pinch or out of convenience this is fine. My guess is there are better choices
Just returned from week at this very friendly hotel where we chose to dine on three evenings. Very happy with service and food, which was very good and very reasonably priced. We have travelled widely in France over the years and would be very happy to return here. Do not recognise experience of previous reviewer at all, though we were staying at the same time!
a really charming staff and a friendly bistro decor. We were terribly disappointed with the entry to dessert.The products are not "market". The chocolate sticker is hard, hard archive.The wine yes, we were well advised by a charming lady. The service is the only positive note as well as the mourning.
