I used to eat here quite often as the food was always good, nothing spectacular but you knew you could get a good feed; however it was starting to get quite tired, it was always the same, which is not a bad thing if you like that but sometimes a freshen up is good, a couple of friends were down from the mainland and were staying in Salamanca and had herd there were a few changes happening here so off we went.Going into the restaurant it seemed a little the same, but hang on a sec, the buffet bain marie buffet hutch thing had gone, we were greeted by smiling faces and shown to out table, all seemed similar, then the menus arrived, well that has certainly gone up a notch that's for sure, gone...

I think that the Salamanca Inn Beef and Seafood Grill is a hidden treasure. We were greeted by very friendly staff who showed us to our table. The chairs are so comfortable and we indulged in their recommended wine which was Tempranillo. It was delicious and went very well with our Crispy Skinned Duck ($33.00) and their signature Smoked Rib Eye Steak ($48.00) which were both cooked to perfection. I wasn't overly keen to visit this restaurant based on other reviews but some friends had invited us.I saw people had complained about the lighting and decor but I think they were being very harsh. The decor was what I would expect in a hotel restaurant and was nice enough.The service was good and the staff were very attentive. The head chef even went round some of the tables after service had slowed down to ask people including us how we enjoyed our meals.The food was good. We tried the prawns and quail ragu for entree. I enjoyed a lovely night at the Salamanca Inn Beef & Seafood Grill on Saturday night. The menu had changed since my last visit but I was exited to see what they had to offer. The menu was revamped and fresh. The Char- Grilled tiger prawns and the quail ragu started off the meal nicely. Full of flavours and presented lovely. The 500g smoked Rib Eye followed and it was definitely a favourite, recommend a nice glass of red to go with. We tasted the Bomba 'salamanca' and the chocolate assiette for desert and they both complimented our whole experience very nicely. Liked the sound of the new menu but unfortunately it simply didn't deliver. Three of us ordered the crispy skin duck. Portion sizes varied significantly, shame the cooking time wasn't adjusted, the largest portion was well under. Worst of all, no crispy skin! Lentils were boring and the jus missing. The 12 hour lamb was fatty and tough. Not sure what was with the 6 cold peas and 3 cherry tomatoes, that hadn't been roasted! The char-grilled octopus was well under, tough and had no charring. Meals lack creative presentation, are expensive and we went home hungry :(

Enjoyed a lovely meal at Salamanca Inn Beef and Seafood Grill tonight, sampling their new and improved menu. The Chargrilled Tiger Prawns and Quail Ragu were a tasty way to start, followed by a House Smoked She-Oak Rib Eye and the Crispy Skin Duck that didn't disappoint. a nice quiet restaurant. we had kartoffelgnocchi, which was the only vegetarian option on the net. it was fantastic. very tasty, rich and smooth came with mushrooms, spinat and presented with disc-shaped radishes.Service was relatiw fast and employees were attentive. it would be nice if they added more vegetarian options. in general it is recommended.
