Driven past her a few times and decided to stop in for snacks and a cold beer on a scorcher of a day. We were the only ones in the place when we arrived and sat on the patio. 10 minutes pass before a server shows up. Ordered a couple of beers and both were flat when they arrived. I told the server and she said "oh sorry". Next ones were ok but paid for the flat ones too!I asked if the pizza was good and she said they are known for the good pizza. Name says tap house and Grill so I wouldn't think they were famous for pizza and I was correct. It was a horrible bland tasteless pizza. Wood fired oven is actually gas with fake wood to make it look like a wood fire.We also had some sausage appetiz...
one at night in chemanus and came here with our family adult children under yrs. we were looking for a non-chain restaurant and were blown away. the food was delicious, and our extremely picky children loved the children cheese pizza. there is a child menu that is not on its website. husband, who always gets a burger, has tried the pesto pollo chicken pizza and swallowed the whole. I had the smoked brisket beef dip and it was also very good. huge salat and pommes came with. service was top notch- they were short staff, but our server was very attentive and eating came out of the kitchen earlier than we expected what is great when they have young children!
our last night in the Chemainus area and we decided to visit the sawmill taphouse. earlier in the week we saw the terrace and we hoped we had dinner there, but the terrace was closed when we left and we had to. Eat inside. beautiful place, beautiful ambiente . my man and I had both a pizza, he had the pesto chicken, I had the capricciossa. it is not very often I can eat a pizza all alone, but it was so good! very happy to have visited this place, great eating and great service .
visited nov, and was impressed by all. we both enjoyed the steak that was cooked for perfection, and the meat cut was more than fair from a quality, based on the price of the meal. as a taphouse they offer a good selection of local beer and also offer quality wines on the glass. atmosphere was good (can they turn the music a little) and our server was fantastic. friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We saw this place a few days prior to visiting, and it did not disappoint. Lots of craft beer on tap, we chose to get a flight, which was a bit pricey, for glasses, we had them in other brew pubs for...a lot cheaper , for The pizza was great. And all other items on the menu looked good as well. The building itself is pretty cool, it’s new but got the old industrial feel. I’d recommend this place to anyone.
What a shame that this place is not outstanding. The location and design are great. The food was good and the staff was friendly. The part that bothered us was the extra charges. $3.00 for extra cheese and I am glad we got it as if not I do not think there would have been any cheese on the pizza. 50 cents for a small amount of olive oil.We just would not eat there again.
This place has gone from good to ok to bad.. Sad to see as it could have so much potential. My last visit with a group of friends was outright embarrassing. I was ashamed to have recommended the place. Probably the worst service iv had to date and the food wasn't far behind. I tried to talk to the manager and was not available. Can't say if Ill be back again.
I have been obsessed with pizza my whole life and always seek out the best. Sawmill competes with the best. I had the diavola pizza and it was incredible. It had great spice and an excellent light,airy and crispy crust. Great patio and friendly service. It doesn't have the ocean view you might hope for on the island, but the food is worth the stop.
the waitress was very kind and nice and I'm sure it's not her fault. but we ordered starters and never got them! then suddenly our meal arrives! my first time here to visit family and wanted a nice relaxing evening meal and it turned out to be a "go inside and out" feeling.
