Great pub. Loved it. I have food allergies. Gluten free and these guys did a great job. GF beer was a nice touch to quench thirst. Oysters were 10/10 and well priced. Had the tuna served on mash which was tasty , well seasoned but bit over done. My wife’s steak looked sensational until the paella came out next table. Dam missed that gig. That smelt and looked awesome and the old couple nigh on ate the table. Gluten free too. My only complaint was not to be ordered to eat the paella. Haha. Finished with deserts. Gluten free brûlée was 10/10 and my wife couldn’t eat all of the sticky date pudding and needed a doggy bag. She said best ever. Not a bad start to a foodie tour of Tasmania

I had a Lovely lunch today, catchup with an old friend.... well priced Fish and Chips and and a couple of Willy Smith ciders. Life is Good when you are able to go to a place like SHIPPYS. We chose from the bar menu which was Fab but I looked at the restaurant menu and it was Terrific tooo.... The staff were very helpful and friendly and the surrounds are comfortable and interesting. Ahoy mates....

Counter meal equals pub grub. Well you can if you want and you will enjoy. However the menu hosts dishes that would compare to fine dining. A couple of examples, Crayfish Linguine, Paella and more. Settling for the Paella and I was not disappointed. Okay it didn't have the crunchy base but the flavours were wonderful and enjoyed in a peaceful relaxing atmosphere. Nice work Shippies.

Got to know this pub restaurant a decade ago. and it did not disappoint on this Tassie holiday. Easy walking distance from our Battery Pint accommodation so we ate there on consecutive nights. The bar staff allowed up to bring back our bottle of wine for night. The service is excellent, tables clean, noise manageable, cosy with a fire, and food is tops! Try the chowder! This pub was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint . My husband and l are from Melbourne and is up there with the best pub food ever . Service was prompt and the food was fresh and tasty . We ate there...twice and can highly recommend the Seafood Cocktail . We will return when next in Hobart .

The Shippie has a very good reputation and lived up to expectations. The service was very good, good menu with large portions with a few wood fired stoves for warmth. A great atmosphere on the several nights we went there for dinner with a band...on Thursday night a bonus. Very much worth a visit.

Cosy authentic original Pub in the heart of the historic Battery Point area of Hobart. Great family and 'locals ' vibe with friendly staff and Guiness on tap. Great way to spend an afternoon or evening watching the footy or relaxing with friends.

Great long standing pub with simple but comfortable accomodation. Good prices considering the prime historical location. Staff are great, welcoming guests and patrons like regulars and not strangers. Food and beverage to satisfy anyone’s tastes. Reserva una mesa ahora

My husband and I stopped in for a quick bit to eat before going to a show. We had grilled salmon with salad and chips. It was fresh, tasted beautiful and we will be back again.

Very cosy pub in Battery Point. Old style pub, small friendly bar. Great for a catch up. Has food available. Separate dining room which I haven't utilised.
